'YOU DIDN'T ONLY LIE TO ME, SCOTT, YOU LIED TO A NATION'

August 17, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Stunning new phone tapes from Scott Peterson's slay trial yesterday depicted his miffed mistress demanding to know if he slept with wife Laci the night before she vanished — and Peterson insisting he told Laci about their affair after their first date.

He takes it and takes it, and never seems to get mad

He doesn't seem like the type to get mad, but I'll bet he is the type that gets even.

Wildflower seeds! Why, how special!

Did he leave her some fertilizer for them, too?

"There was circumstantial evidence that I had commited the crime I was questioned for. The door had been kicked in, and the bootprint on the door was of the same type and size as what I wore. A 'witness' placed me in the area at the time of the burglary. Further, I had had an argument with that person just two days before.

What you had was more of a coincidental type of association to whatever happened. With what little they had quickly was evident there was nothing there. Further your alibi was very good.

Article: Circumstantial evidence is a fact that can be used to infer another fact. Indirect evidence that implies something occurred but doesn't directly prove it; proof of one or more facts from which one can find another fact; proof of a chain of facts and circumstances indicating that the person is either guilty or not guilty.

One of the most incisive comments from the THs I've heard was from a lady who said that it wasn't so much Amber that he wanted, but his freedom. That's very true. Amber was the "flavor of the month".
This narcissistic scum loves one thing - his liberty to be a scumbag. Based on the lengths he went to, to feed his lust for variety in women - and free himself from even the venerable Laci, I bet he's really scared of prison. The thought of going there just might be the only thing that could chill him any colder than he already is. No girls to play with. Prison will be the worst thing in the world. (assuming there's no porn available) I'd say that for this maggot, a life sentence in max-security with no chance of parole, would be as just as a death sentence. (assuming, of course, that he's guilty :)

>>Wonder if the necklace was from Laci's jewelry?<,

The jury was shown pictures of the gifts, but I haven't heard what was written on the card, and I don't think the actual items were introduced into evidence.

On Websleuths, they say that Scott made another poster for Laci's search center, in addition to the one he signed "Laci's Husband".

This other poster, which Lisa Bloom supposedly held up a copy of on Court TV, had a verse from a Boris Pasternak poem.

You guessed it! It was the very same Pasternak poem that he had been reading to Amber, the one with the stuff about "my greatcoat round our shoulders... shelter from the storm... my hands about your waist... I lay my greatcoat on the ground" (implying that the couple can't control themselves and are going to, um, quell their passion on the ground.

He used a couple of the less-suggestive stanzas for the search center poster.

I'm anything but an expert in psych, but from what I read in the book about psychopaths ("The Mask of Sanity"), this little trick was classic psychopathic behavior: he is secretly making fools of the people at the search center by putting up part of the very same poem he reads from when he gets all sexual with his secret girlfriend on the phone. He is taking something secret and "nasty" and passing it off to them as some really nice, respectful gesture to them and to his missing wife. All the while laughing while they innocently swallow the secret reference to his profane affair.

Well, I'm glad they at least have been shown that he was giving her little gifts while his wife was missing--and on his missing baby's due date. Never a thought to what could have been happening on that very day.

'YOU DIDN'T ONLY LIE TO ME, SCOTT, YOU LIED TO A NATION'

Blah, blah, blah.... People lie to nations all the time, no big deal. Look at the Clinton years, and that's just a start.

I must be the only person who still thinks that whole thing was strange, given Scott had a missing, pregnant wife.

There's a lot of strange things about this case, most of it revolving around the behavior of Peterson. For a man who claims he's innocent he sure didn't act like it.

That sounds right. So Geragos can bring up the well-respected Josh. Let him. Amber already (on the tapes) told the jury that she was carrying on with Josh while he was married to his pregnant wife, so the sting has at least been taken out.

The purpose of bringing up stuff about Amber is to (they hope) impeach her credibility. Traditionally, such impeachment is shown by dishonest acts/statements. Okay, Amber had the affair. What husband was she cheating on? She wasn't married. It was Josh who was deceiving someone.

Amber has allegedly lied in the past. Allegedly she lied to Ayianna's grandmother, saying she didn't leave the little girl with Scott.

I think she can just take her lumps and be done with it. Most of the stuff Amber contributed was in the admission of the tapes, which is SCOTT speaking.

If Geragos goes too far into the Josh-Michelle thing, he will be offering stuff that is too remote. The judge has to keep the focus on the facts of THIS case. So I think while they may touch on it, so what, it's already been aired.

Thanks, Meg! Can you BELIEVE that he did that little trick??

He likes the thrill of putting stuff over on people. Remember when people would come up with off-the-wall ideas, saying, "Well, maybe he planned this or that, to confuse things"?

I am intrigued by such suggestions, but I would always say to myself, "No, that's too farfetched".

But now I know that no little devious detail is too farfetched for this man to add it in. He is one champion schemer.

"I just know that if we got to sit down ... I think of how both of us could be experiencing something so unbelievable that I think it would help both of us," jurors heard Peterson say on the tape Tuesday.

"I just don't see how that would be possible," Frey says.

Peterson calls back several minutes later.

"I thought I could come to wherever you are," he says.

"I can't have you come to my house, Scott," Frey replies.

Peterson can be heard sobbing throughout the call.

"You know I'm not a monster, Amber," he says before suggesting the pair meet at a friend's home in Lake Arrowhead in the mountains about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.

"We just need to see each other, Amber, at least for a couple of hours," he prods.

"You have to understand you're obviously being followed by the media and who knows who else," Frey says.

"Is there some way for us to see each other, Amber?" Peterson asks again.

"At this point, all I could see is it just damaging me even more," Frey says.

Peterson continues to tell Frey how much he wants to be with her.

"I just need to tell you how much I care about you ... And I desire so much to be, you know, for the rest of our lives, your best friend, your biggest comfort, and the second-most joy in your life," Peterson tells her. "Obviously, I still think it would be great if we could see each other."

Later, jurors heard a tape of Frey reading Peterson a letter he wrote to her.

Oh, Lord this is after Snott gave that interview saying he didn't love Amber. He was just having an inapproriate affair. Think those Porno tapes were getting to him? He said he only needed two hours. I'm not a monster, just a HB Wolf.....Amber?

You may be right...I saw a bit where she asked him if he was comfortable talking about things over the phone, and he said, "some things."
Crier, I think had a pool on whether people think he knew he was being tapped...did not catch the results.

I'm still digesting the poem information..He must have been really tickled about that little touch of disdain for the searchers.

His pathological lies and mind games are very detailed..He lacks the emotional IQ to know or care what his words and behavior will reveal about him...It's the game, the fantasy, the risk that keeps him going...

He needs to have her telling him he was so important to her...The reporters say he really can't keep his eyes off her when she is on the stand. It isn't that he loved her..It's all about his narcissistic needs..She played a role for him.

And this from Aphrodite who hangs on the right arm of Geragos?? Priceless. Soon we'll hear confirmation that it was Laci's jewelry. ~The jury will gasp~

HA! Maybe another reason Snotty ordered hard core porn just a few days after Laci went missing...he knew he was more than likely going to the big house!

Seriously tho, I am in a agreement that Amber was the flavor of the month, someone to feed his huge ego.

What was most important to Scott, was Scott, and Scott's freedom.

Poor Sharon. It's heartwrenching to read. I'm not sure I'd be able to hear Sharon's voice in this conversation without bawling my eyes out.
