Kerry hires online chief from MoveOn (collusion with 527 org alert)
cnn ^ | Wednesday, April 7, 2004 | From John Mercurio

Posted on 08/16/2004 1:18:51 PM PDT by dennisw

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- John Kerry has hired an Internet-savvy Democrat to run his presidential campaign's online communications, a move that raises new questions about the link between his campaign and the independent groups that run TV ads on his behalf.

Zach Exley, the director of special projects for the MoveOn PAC, is going to the Kerry campaign to become its director of online communications and organization.

Exley also worked during the Democratic presidential primary for Howard Dean, helping Dean set up his web-based organization.

MoveOn has spent roughly $17 million on ads since it started running its "misleader" campaign against Bush last year.

Republicans said Exley's move reinforces their accusations that Kerry and his Democratic allies are circumventing the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law they fought so hard to enact. (GOP challenges anti-Bush ads)

"It's another example of the coordination between MoveOn.org and the Kerry campaign that is illegal under campaign finance law," a Bush campaign official said.

"The Media Fund and MoveOn are functioning as Kerry's slush fund, a shadow Democratic Party that's illegally using soft dollars."

"In addition to the obvious questions his hiring raises about further illegal coordination between the Kerry campaign and MoveOn.org, you have to wonder what hiring someone who considers Hitler comparisons to be legitimate political discourse says about the Kerry campaign," Gillespie said in a statement issued Wednesday.

I wasn't being critical of your post, BTW, other than I didn't know if there was further commentary on your part on why the article was important again.

Yeah right, media. This is in your face, eat Sh*t from the Socialists and the fact that the agency in charge of this has already stated they will not rule until "after" the election. So it is no holds barred..

Frankly, I don't see any wrong doing by MoveOn or the Kerry campaign. The bottomline is obvious. This is politics and the Librats have taken advantage of campaign finance reform. For some reason it never dawned on Republicans to engage in the same tactics. I hate to say it, but the Stupid Party strikes again.

Have you seen or heard the latest ad from MOve'N.muhbowel.org taking whacks at the Swift Vets?

To call it anything less than malicious 'kid' stuff is being too kind..

Maybe not all Thanks to CFR but.. Is this the America we have sunk to.. by such inspired leadership as some of our most 'esteemed' US senators.. And where is the FEC ,, deliberating or on bivouac?

They got me steemin'
;-)

Manoman.

Democrats just can't obey the laws they force on the public now can they?

Ever.

Al Gore the second is doing the same thing as Al Gore the first in that, not only is he getting illegal funds, he's running the same Viet Nam plays.

Up next, BIG CAMPAIGN SPEECH KISS ON THERESAS FISH LIPS!

Followed by more raping of the electoral process after a big loss.

Thank you lawless DumbeRats for a re-run campaign.

Is there any doubt, in anyone's mind, that he has not been connected since day one!?

Not mine. This has been crooked as a dog's hind leg from the very beginning. This can't believe Bush signed this unconstitutional piece of crap and still can't believe the Supreme Court found this unconstitutional piece of crap constitutional.

And just think, we have McCain-Feingold to thank for this ridiculous mess.

527s are negative campaign orgs by definition. They cannot back a candidate but they san slam and tear down his opponent. 527s are not directly connected to the candidate in whose interest they campaign and spend money so they are freer to slime his opponent.

Politics was more honest when the DNC and RNC could get the big bucks soft money. They were accountable for any scurrilous TV advertising and other scurrilous campaigning. Now the soft money must go to the 527s.

And we can further thank McCain for going after the Swift Boat Vet's ad rather than attacking how his bill has been corrupted, mostly by the left. (I hate CFR but it just kills me that McCain has provided the most used comment on the Swift Boat Vet's ad.)

So if it's illegal, why isn't there a criminal investigation?

I was delighted to read this news back in April. Kerry is a loser, his inner circle of confidants are losers and his campaign people are losers.

MoveOn is a loser organization with a perfect .000 batting average. Couldn't be happier.

Wow, I missed this the other day - given Kerry's "response" to the swifties today and the attention given 527s, this should be dynamite!

Absolutely it is. Especially because it happened long before the Swift Boat Vets got any traction at all. All the while Kerry complains about 527 connections, he's had a major one ongoing for months.

But silence from the MSM. What a shocker.

Kerry tried to talk Admiral Hoffman out of his involvement and support of the Swifties,IIRC.

That in itself is an apparent effort to influence(coordinate with)a 527.
