Morag. Apparently it's Scots (or possibly also Irish) Gaelic, and means something like big or tall. I didn't know it either and had to look it up.

It is kind of a red flag, though. What's up with parents who'll give a kid a name like that?

The source I found referenced "Sarah" not "Mary"

Morag sounds like a charcter from The Lord of the Rings.

The red flag that hit me was Irish. Seems Ireland pops up a lot.

According to this site, Morag is Gaelic for "Great", while "Mary" is Hebrew for "Bitterness". According to another site, Sarah or Marion are the usual English substitutes in Scots Gaelic. I don't think the name translates to Mary.

It's not unusual for New York area Irish catholics to give their kids Gaelic names. Sean is Gaelic for John, for example. And there are a lot of Seans here. Can't say I know any other Morags, though.

So it's not Celt for "Mary"! Maeve -- that's a more common choice. How many Morags are there?

Why did Dani Matos bring a girl into the world this way? To be fatherless? A piece of costume jewelery? A piece of political theater?

When the Canadian Kari speaks of staying in connection, what are we talking? Moola on the wire every month? That'd be the connection I'd say. Why else ain't she ever been back!
