Floridian's Blaming Jeb Bush For Charley (not joking, barf alert)
Myself | 8-14-04 | my favorite headache

Posted on 08/14/2004 2:02:37 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

It is with a heavy heart that I write this. I have no idea what is wrong with people today in this society and this country. My example I am going to use is a really really sad one.

I was in Plant City as of Thursday night which for those who do not know is just north east of Tampa/St.Pete. I went down there to help a friend of mine who owns a house who happens to be a single mother of a 2 yr old girl. She needed help boarding up her house and sandbags etc.

All finished by 2 am there and I decided I was going to go over to a portion of Tampa called locally "New Tampa", where another friend of mine was readying her home up with her brothers. It was only 30 mins away from Plant City and definitely in the "expected"path of Charley.

I wound up falling asleep there around 4 am and woke up around 6:30 am to see that everything was still a go and a green light for Tampa. We had a few more things to move outside and the sandbags because it is a low lying area that floods from regular storms.

We went out to grab something to eat at a local Wendy's where the wait in the drive thru was about 45 mins long considering everything local had closed already by 11 am. When we got back to the house we were watching storm coverage and then about 20 mins later noticed the shift in the storm. We saw that the storm itself was more than likely going to move into the Cape Coral area.

I decided it was time for me to make my decision and it was quick. 10 seconds. I got into my car and drove over to my friends home in Lakeland. Unfortunately by the time I got over there he had hauled it over to a friends house in Arcadia.

I knew I was racing against time on I-4 and that Charley was breathing down my neck. But was more than confident I would make it back to Melbourne in time before Charlie hit Central Florida...and I did.

With about 60 mph winds everything was ok here and we even managed to keep power the entire time. So we were spared and were lucky...our friends 30 miles to the west of us couldn't say the same.

So all of my phone calls were put into friends in Naples where I used to live up til March of this year,Fort Myers,Cape Coral, and Bonita Springs. All had no power and were trying to save cell batteries but were alive. But here is where the BARF ALERT comes in.

3 of them managed to in the span of 60 seconds say "this is Jeb Bush's storm...he really screwed this one up","your boy Jeb is going to have a lot of explaining to do with this one","I am sure Jeb and George will come play the healer for their own injuries they caused."

I was sicken to my stomach. Just not that these people were my friends and usually very educated and well spoken...BUT THEY MEANT IT!

I said listen...this storm was all over the news for a week. The hurricane warning had been issued within 36 hrs...evacuation orders were given...this is mother nature...science..you can't predict this kind of thing and we all saw it with our own eyes..the storm turned right...not Jeb Bush forcing it to the coast.

Every single person bought into the entire "the Bush's never know what to do when something is going on ala the morning of 9-11",obviously a Michael Moore style of brainwashing that people have sickingly adopted from his film.

If it was not bad enough to hear it was when I turned on local talk radio and listened to my fellow Floridians bash the national hurricane center, the national weather service, jeb bush, and the media for causing such huge errors in the state and ignoring other possible tracks. That Jeb Bush spoke with arrogance and cockiness that the storm was definitely going to hit Tampa.

Last I checked the NHC saved millions of lives by posting updates every 3 hrs...the national weather service saved millions of lives by posting tornado warnings and flood watches and warnings, and Jeb Bush was up for 3 straight days and still is down south trying to do whatever a HUMAN BEING can do.

The nerve of a reporter to ask him "you are down here and the cameras are here...but do you really mean it when you say you are going to make sure people get help? Do you mean it?"

Or CNN saying "well the president's trip with his brother will be more about not wanting to lose Florida and the 27 electoral votes than showing compassion", I have absolutely had it with this kind of crap. I really pray for humanity to come along one day and to stop blaming everyone else for their problems and for things out of all of our control...like category 4 hurricanes.

Does this remind you of anything? Terrorists brainwashed by Muslim mullahs. People in this country brainwashed, told the big lie endlessly by RATs. Whether it's old folks forced to eat dog food or cheated out of 'affordable' prescription drugs. The list is endless and the blame is always squarely on Bush's shoulders. Unbelievable.

Thanks for the google. Lily Tomlin sounds right. We used to be great fans of her humor. Lately our belly laughs are coming from Ann Coulter and Dennis Miller.

On scene reporters for both MSNBC and CNN have said that President Bush's decision to visit Fla. so soon after the disaster does 2 things...

And by reporting that proves one thing

Proves was jackasses CNN & MSNBC are

I told someone on another thread who remarked sarcastically that Bush was to blame that it was only a matter of time before some started saying something similar and being serious about it. Unfortunately, it has occurred.

Overwhelmingly stupid. Bush caused the hurricane...uh huh.

I am sorry to hear of this...but it's reality.

I work with many highly educated folks..people with Doctorates, Phd's, MBA's, BA's...and I gave up trying to equate those degree's with any sign of intelligence and common sense.

I also have a very, very good friend...who's a cowboy..and just has a HS education. He's got more sense than 3/4's of the people I run into.

BTW, glad you are okay....and it sounds like you are one good Samaritan also.

Kudos to you...

FRegards,

I am sorry for that lady (well, not really..actually I am kind of glad she lost everything...)

But look...she should know that a hurricane is not a tornado. It is a big storm.

And hurricane prediction is still one of the worst areas of meteorology with a huge margin for error.

Not direct on Jeb but we all knew that the press would spin GWB's visit - but the consesnus was they'd say it was political.
The problem is that spin would presuppose they'd seek to give the appearance of a pretense of consistency.
Not so.
Just heard ABC News on the rdaio. The spin on GWB's visit to Florida tomorrow?
How a presidential visit will be so disruptive to relief efforts.

Make one not want to contribute or donate to the Red Cross.
Make comments like that and everyone across the country is reading it puts a bad perspective on the whole population. They should think before they make remarks. The whole world is watching.

The Bush family gets blamed for everything else, why not this. I'm not even surprised, disgusted, but not surprised.

Charley looked deep into himself for his inner truth, found out he was gay, and VEERED.

It was barely a turn at all. But I've heard that myth on the media constantly today..that it was some sort of very sudden, massive tire-squealing turn.

And also the distance between Tampa Bay and Port Charlotte is routinely getting wildly exaggerated; On a map it's a hair over 50 miles, but for some reason people in Port Charlotte, and the media, seem to consider Tampa Bay farther away than the dark side of the moon.

In the grand scheme of hurricane tracks, it was barely any sort of change of direction.

One of the earlier NHC advisories noted that because of the shallow approach angle to the coast of Western Florida, very tiny changes in angle could change landfall location by a decent amount.

I'm in the process of creating some graphics and hope to get them hosted somewhere to take the hits, but, on the night of August 12th (After Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda mobile home folks were ALREADY under mandatory evac orders and a Hurricane Warning since the midafternoon) Charley was STILL south of Cuba and heading West of due North.

The distance between the foreacast track at that time (into Tampa Bay) and where it actually went, in terms of angle, was 5 degrees or less...360 degrees in a circle. That's a microscopic track deviation.

And EVEN IF CHARLEY HAD followed the NHC track, the winds forecast for Port Charlotte from that track were STILL above the level considered too dangerous for people to stay in mobile homes.

True.

However, they should know that hurricane track prediction is not an exact science. They should know when they are in a hurricane warning that it means something.

Oh well. She lost her home.

Somehow I don't feel sorry for the lady.

And the BS about thet storm turning at the last minute.....I ma sorry, but I saw Thursday night that it was going to go a lot further south than predicted.

So that lady can't claim she was lied to if she would have got her lazy ass on the computer and looked at a satellite loop.

I guess I shouldn't be amazed with the some of the idiocy in this world. I suppose that some people believe a secret lab exist in a bunker where Jeb and George mixed up a brew for this storm. Just like the group of people that believe the moon landing was done in a Hollywood studio.

My gosh, I bet Kerrys going to pick this up. Next Michael Moore films going to carry these accusations on Bushes second term.

"In 2004, do to new ballots and voting machines, George and Jeb Bush paid Haliburton and used the Military both of which worked together in constructing a machine that attracted two tropical storms, one a hurricane, to crash into Florida in hopes of causing enough fear to scare off Democrat/black/gay/undecided/elderly/poor/homeless/single mothers/Republicans who might vote for Kerry/and Disney employees. They failed, though only in a minor way, as Bush took Florida without an appology for the destructive forces of nature they unleashed upon Florida!

Work in a few doctored headlines, some interviews with these idiots and well, there it is!Bet you the fat freak grease machine is already pitching the idea!

AHAH! Blame it on Bush! But Kerry will get us all killed. At that point, your history determines where you go.
