The timing of this storm is rather suspicious.

H W Bush really screwed it up when he visited Miami post Andrew.
He tied up an already screwed up major road(US 1/South Dixie Highway), and about pissed everyone off in South Dade.
It did not win him any votes.

Officials are loath to ascribe campaign motives to emergency response, but politics infuses everything this close to an election. No more so than in the state that handed Bush the presidency. Who says politics infuses a natural disaster? Oh, right, the AP.
You people are truly sick.
And what is this about Florida handing Bush the election? I thought the Supreme Court did that. :-D

I remember Andrew well. We stood amongst utter devastation; patrolling out neighborhoods with shotguns for 2 days before we heard a peep out of the state or the Feds. Trees blocked all access to our area. It was at least a week before we saw military choppers in the sky.
African nations get faster aid that that in an extreme emergency.
Bush Sr. was rightly criticized.

I bet that Kerry has plans to beat Bush to Florida to show that he cares more.

"Kerry is best to be silent on the issue." What do you want to be he won't be?

Let's see
Fly over in helicopter
Return to White House
Declare FL. disaster area.
That's about it.

It is a test, in a way. I believe the Lord sent this hurricane in order to allow the President to remind swing-state voters of his crisis-management and leadership abilities under pressure. While my heart breaks for those who suffer losses in the storm, it will ultimately be for the greater good.

I found it rather interesting, early this afternnon, that gov. jeb bush was making damage estimates before the storm came ashore.

I actually heard Keith Oberman on MSNBC talking to a reporter suggesting that the forecasters were at fault for not accurately predicting the path of the hurricane since it went "Off Course" and hit someplace else it wasn't supposed to.
Here we are now blaming the forecasters and I guess the lawyers can sue for non-accuracy.
We can't even predict tomorrows weather but are supposed to be able to track a hurricane. What next?????????

Everything is political with AP. I am sure Kerry will show up(when it is safe) and tell everyone how he would have stopped it. The media will report how he was there first.
