Back to Hurricane
I live in Sarasota County and we're expecting the eye to be very, very close. We're all buttoned down (wife, daughter, grandma, and two dogs) with storm shutters and panels. We live about 1.5 miles from the bay and perhaps 2.5 to 3.5 miles from the Gulf. The womenfolk are starting to get nervous, so my wife made my Mom turn off the TV weather reports. Stay tuned.......
Latest (1400 EDT, 1800Z) forecast track from the NWS. That's bad news for North Carolina...the storm will cross Florida and go back out to sea, giving it more of a chance to gain strength and smack into Wilmington still as a hurricane.
Prayers headed your way, folks in Florida.

no, its not going north - it just bounced a little north - I don't think it will track appreciably north.
Naples now hitting 63 mph on the beach..
Thanks :-)
Well I'm up here in Minny, and ya know, we get our fair share during winter!!!
good point, now I'm only going to feel slightly guilty, ah heck after I toast Fl. a couple of times I'll be fine
You got that right. We've been reaching highs of 65. In August, that is unheard of. Normally 90's or above...
A few hours ago this was a cat 2, "party time" cane! Now it's a cat "how long can you trend water" 4 cane. I am afraid the party is over for those on the low lying barrier islands that get hit with the eye wall.
I just hope Bush gets down to Florida before Kerry does, considering what an opportunist Kerry is.
Truck on street - away from trees. Daughter's new Beetle on lawn with few trees above it. Wife out looking for where she wants her truck! Wife now convinced to let the animals and me inside if it really starts to blow ... what about youse guys?
I heard they were now starting to evacuate southern Florida DemocRATs to Cuba as the storm is so unpredictable...be sure all your Liberal friends in FL get the word out.
You aren't kidding! I'm sitting here in AL with a high of 75 today. It's August and I have my windows open. Weird.
Continued prayers for my family and other Floridians.
Do you have Windows Media Player?
keep your head down and God bless you and your family
It is still well organized and maintaining strength...no hope there...
I just rode through Alex last week in Waves, NC. This is considerably worse than that. This thing strengthened fast and may hit the east coast after it crosses Florida, sort of like Hugo. Nasty!
Stay safe man...
