Why make two speeches? McGreedy should have made one speech and he should have been honest about it. The mainstream media and the Democrats are giving the impression he resigned because he announced to the world he's gay. The one thing that sets Rush and McGreedy apart are "being honest with those around you". McGreedy lacks that particular element in him. Sort of Clintonesque.

Yes. And the Democrats are abetted in this deceit by the way Jim McGreevey artfully hid his tiny, tiny resignation speech* at the end of his long, involved "coming out" speech.

If McGreevey were really a hero, he would have chosen another occasion to finally emerge from his self-constructed cocoon.

McGreevey's contrived spectacle made him seem like a "coming of age" young person (a sort of a debutante) rather than a resigning politico.

*Here is the two-sentence text of McGreevey's actual resignation speech.

To facilitate a responsible transition, my resignation will be effective on November 15th of this year.

I'm very proud of the things we have accomplished during my administration. And I want to thank humbly the citizens of the state of New Jersey for the privilege to govern.

All the other paragraphs, that went before these few words, were his "coming out" speech and should have been emotionally delivered at another time.
