PRINCETON, NJ -- A new Gallup Poll shows a slight improvement in President George W. Bush's overall job approval rating, while the presidential contest remains essentially unchanged. In a two-way contest with Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, Bush enjoys a slight lead among likely voters, 50% to 47%, little changed from the 51% to 47% lead he enjoyed in a July 30-Aug. 1 poll.

The reason is that Bush was letting Kerry get away with doing all the talking...

Now that the President is fighting back.. The President America has grown to love (and hate) is back... And that's reason enough to cheer!

Does anyone here have a link to the animated Snoopy happy dance? I want to post it at some lib sites when Bush wins.

Just wait until after the debates! Kerry may as well drop out and save himself the trouble.

This is good news. I expect an improvement in the job approval numbers after the GOP Convention next month. President Bush will probably have a 54 to 55% approval rating by October and he will win by the same margin in November.

I hope you get a chance to use it. This campaign is making me nervous.

Bush improved a point in the registered voters but lost the same amount in the likely voters. Weird.

Liberal handmaiden John King with the Kerry campaign on CNN reported this morning that Kerry has opened up a 10-point lead and that the Kerry advisers are determined to coast to victory.

Really, John?

Have these idiots ever considered that at this time in 1988 former President Bush was 17 points behind Michael Dukakis?

The assault on the Kerry record hasn't even begun yet. These reporters are a laugh a minute.

They're overconfident. Let them be. We'll see who is ahead in October.

Are there any Union members here? I just read the AFL-CIO voter pamphlet and it's a thinly disguised Kerry for President Ad. There's no mention of Kerry voting againt ANWR drilling, and no mention of him abandoning labor on Nafta and China trade. Is there anything that can be done about this?

I agree. Michael Barone pointed out on Brit Hume that Pres. Bush hasn't been able to communicate his message effectively because the partisan Democrat media has been basically campaigning against him (he used softer terms).

That will all change, starting with the GOP convention.

"The reason is that Bush was letting Kerry get away with doing all the talking..."

And Kerry talked himself into a corner, while Bush stepped aside.
