Can the GOP use the partisan UNITY conferees against the media
Vanity

I have been thinking about how the GOP can try to quiet the decidedly partisan media's campaign against the president. At the recent UNITY conference where both candidates appeared, the mediots exposed their preference - that should be used against them in an ad.

Ad cover caption, "At a recent gathering of supposedly objective reporters..."

Alternating clips of the differing reactions, Kerry vs Bush.

Show cheering Kerry support vs tepid, polite Bush applause.

Show smiling, happy faces of Kerry supporters vs eye-rolling and snickering during the Bush speech.

Use the clips showing the most opposite reactions and then to voiceover...

The objective media seem to have decided who they prefer. Don't you deserve the same opportunity? Avoid being swayed by partisan reporting. Cheerleading like this belongs on the ballfield, not the newsroom. Take the time to listen to the candidates directly. George W. Bush for president. You CAN think for yourself.

I think the press would be highly upset with ad. But they couldn't come out too forcefully against it without sounding even more partisan. The video will have clearly shown the mediots whooping it up for Kerry.

It's something media watchdogs like MRI can do, but the GOP isn't going to spend its money on someone other than the opponent. As much as we all hate the obviously biased mainstream media, they aren't running for office.

What you do is have them pick colored note pads out of a box as a door prize/gift.

The ones who pick blue are Democrats.

The ones who pick red are Republicans.

The ones who pick green are Green Party in Name Only.

The ones who refuse work for Green Peace.

Sadly, you are probably correct. I would prefer it if the media weren't always an adversary.

I wish they weren't a DNC auxilliary either. There are just too many of those out there: PTA, League of Women Voters, AAUW, Planned Parenthood, PFAW, universities, Hollywood, unions, and so on.

Some days it feels like we are David looking over at Goliath. However, all we need is just one smooth stone....

Good luck with that one. White journalists go out of their way to make themselves look independent (although usually lying about it). But the black journalists were "off the clock" as the Unity Spokeswoman put it and were free to attend this campaign event. If you are black, nobody who reads your stories will care that you are a member of the socialist party or have a tatoo of Mao on your arm. When 94% of your readers vote the same way, you would probably be criticized if you didn't wear the Kerry buttons while reporting the news.
