Democrats Sell Apocalypse Now To Hollywood
Wall Street Journal ^ | August 13, 2004 | Daniel Henninger

Posted on 08/13/2004 5:41:53 AM PDT by OESY

...

The most talked about Democratic fund-raiser before the convention was at Radio City Music Hall, featuring Whoopi Goldberg, the comedian and former Slim-Fast pitch person.

...

Linda Ronstadt stopped an innocent gig in Vegas to make a demented pitch for "Fahrenheit 9/11." Hollywood's become a town of Demophiliacs.

...

Hyper-politicized Hollywood is the new bed Bill Clinton made for the Democrats, and now the party is going to have to lie in it.... Mr. Kerry has raised $47.5 million in California. Al Gore raised only $5 million.

Isn't it becoming harder by the day to take the Democrats seriously as the party of the common man and the left-out? Besides these people, the party's primary sources of support have become trial lawyers and Wall Street financiers. It is becoming a party run by a new class of elites who make fast money -- $25 million for 30 days work on a movie, millions (even billions) winning lawsuits against doctors or asbestos users, millions to do arithmetic for a business merger. But they're all running against "Halliburton."

The days when in the same breath you said AFL-CIO, blue-collar and Democrats are gone. The industrial unions, which connected the party to its authentic roots, are downstairs and out of sight of the nouveau arriviste Democrats. With each new election cycle, the donkey is morphing into a thoroughbred, getting its cash and ideas in living rooms on Park Avenue and Rodeo Drive. This year more than $510,000 has come out of Beverly Hills, zip code 90210. Middle-class squeeze? There is something bizarre, event ancien régime, about really big-money people leading a small-person party. Dennis Kucinich must be beside himself....

Bump.

Why are the lefties so afraid of President Bush's faith? Rhetorical question, but I wish they'd get over it.

John Leguizamo's attitude, though clearly not shared by all Hispanics, is nontheless prevalent enough to make the latino vote be on the verge of becoming a permanent Dem block as with blacks.

But anyway, the Dem party hasn't been the party of the 'little-guy' for decades now. They give lip service to being better for their economic interests and maybe there is a debate there, but on social/cultural issues the left will not hesistate to force their radical agenda on an unwilling public, usually via the courts.

I have a theory about this.

Actors started poor, working in restaurants, keeping miserable jobs. Basically, poor. So they were always supportive of politicians that believed in helping the poor.

When these actors finally hit it big, they spent some time enjoying their new found wealth. Capitalism at its best.

Once they became irrelevant, where no one really cared who they were, they felt guilty and believed they needed to go back to their roots, of course while not giving up their life of luxury.

Now take into account that Hollywood is making this a new cottage industry, they are trying to out Marxist each other in a bid to once again capitalize on this.

The problem is they really do not care. They can hide behind the gates to their villas and use the press to forward their agendas. I think the term is "Limousine Liberal"

First, there is a contingent of fags and dykes who hate Bush and Christianity because of Christianity's condemnation of homosexuality.

Second, there is a contingent of Jews who are convinced the Christians are coming to get them at any moment (and somehow haven't noticed that Islam is the one actually *doing* it.)

Third, there is a contingent of Marxists who hate religion because it competes with their own religion.

Some of these are the same people (there are plenty of homosexual Jewish Marxists).

That all adds up to the Left's left knee jerking very hard when it comes to Bush...

I was just watching the History channel the other day and they had on the atrocities of the Japanese.
I started to think about the similarities of the Taliban and the Japs. the fact that they both had sneak attacks and what would we do about profiling and would we round up the middle easterners here....but then they mentioned the Geneva convention and I thought how these terrorists are not following any rules............ then they showed the Batton Death march. I had caddied with a man who was there. A great guy.
For a moment I thought there are a few today i would like to see on the Bagdad Death march. The list started with the people that were the cause of 9/11 , Bj would be first in line on the march followed by Hitlary, then carville the red skull. next steponallofus, etc. Then came the hollywood crowd, with fat ass moore, baldwin, chase..... Then our wonderful news men and women......who would drop first to be beheaded the way the japs beheaded our men? Well it's just a thought. If anyone would like to elaborate on this in a new post under Bagdad Death march feel free. But we may run out of space.

Interesting theory, however I think that entertainers spend too much time playing different roles that they lose or never develop a real character for themselves. To act, you have to become, in your imagination, a fictional character. You have to become that person to be convincing. The imagination is very powerful element of our thought processes.

Will Smith, the star of "I, Robot," says the movie is about the Bush administration: "The main robot Viki says in the film that 'for the good of the people, some freedoms and some people's lives have to be sacrificed.'"

Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

Why are the lefties so afraid of President Bush's faith?

Follow-up question -- why is the downright EVANGELICAL streak of their patron saint Jimmy Carter not an issue? He actually tried to convert WORLD LEADERS over to Christianity.

As usual, anyone with a (D) gets a pass.

Funny to me I would of thought it was about the libs "its for the children" and " we know best what's good for you" philosophy. Too bad I didn't see his comments before I spent my green on the movie. Anher celeb joins my "Brown List".

My niece is a "hollywood-type person". I can never get a grip on what the hell she is doing or saying at any one time.

George Patton couldn't have said it better. Soldiers know this!
