WASHINGTON Some of those who attended Teresa Heinz Kerry's address to the Democratic National Convention's "gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender caucus" an event uncovered by the "straight" media believe the would-be first lady broadly hinted at her covert support for same-sex marriage.
Greeted with thunderous applause and chants of "Teresa, Teresa, Teresa from the crowd of 200 last week, Mrs. Kerry told the group: "I know that I am welcomed and I am grateful to be welcomed. I'm grateful to you because you symbolize family. You symbolize strength and hope. You symbolize resistance. And you symbolize tolerance. For that we are all thankful to you."
According to a report in the Washington Blade, Mrs. Kerry outshined other speakers who included Rob Reiner, Ben Affleck and "Sopranos" television star Steve Buscemi.
"You are in a sense pushing the envelope," she said. "We have to respond with policies that reflect the capacity and the tolerance of all Americans."
The Blade reporter suggested Mrs. Kerry was possibly referring to her husband's position of support for civil unions rather than gay marriage.
"But," she continued, "because things are difficult doesn't mean they won't happen."
She told of how she was moved at a campaign appearance a few months ago in Washington state, when a man told her in a question and answer session that his relationship with his mother was strained and told her, "I want you to be my mother."
"It was clear that he had not made that peace with his mother and he wanted someone who loved him," Heinz Kerry said. "And so, at least, if nothing else, you'll have a mom in the White House," she told the crowd.
Added Heinz Kerry: "You can call me Mama T."
That remark prompted the homosexual delegates to jump to their feet chanting "Mama T!"
"If my child ever came to me and said, Mom, or if my husband's daughters told me, 'This is who we are and this is what I plan to do,' then I would feel as a mother free to share my joy, my pride with all my friends, no matter what circumstances ... or understanding of the culture, in the same way that if my son would say, 'I want to marry this wonderful girl.'
American Disruptor Party campaign continues
And this -itch wants to be first whatzit?
"You symbolize family" she said? maybe her definition and context of family is different from mine. When you talk to me about my family, I would think my spouse, my children, my parents, my grandparents my brothers and sisters, etc.
Excuse me Mrs. Kerry, but gay married couples cannot conceive children naturally. The common thing in families to me is children. Everyone starts off as children, well except maybe Mr. and Mrs. Kerry who probably slithered out of some rock.
IT WAS BECAUSE THEY ALL JUST REALLY REPRESENT "FAMILY".
Damn, I am so sick of people being proud of their children for being homosexual. I am proud of my sons, but it has nothing to do with the fact they are heterosexual. You liberals want to "accept" your childs homosexuality, go right ahead; but don't pretend that pride is not actually in yourself for being such "enlightened" parents. Do liberals never think about what they say?
Is is possible that a mind is so fouled that she could equate death from aids... with strength and hope!? Does she want the election so badly that she would encourage a "choice" that kills? Killing children by abortion and now encouraging a "choice" that kills the "chooser"
Democratic Party = Party of Death!!!
"I want you to be my mother"?
"Mama T, Mama T, Mama T!"
These people are mentally ill! Stereotypes exist for a reason--because they are so often TRUE. (Gay men and their moms...)
Mother Teresa? Gag me with a silver spoon.
These people are "pushing the envelope" down America's throat and even the Calif Supreme Court said it's going way too far. She loves it though.
She said the 'symolize family' crap before and I wondered why no one picked it up. She'll be easy to catch in her views, because she can't keep her mouth shut.
An entire human civilization can end in one generation with the kind of family she thinks is okay.
Resistance to what, exactly? Hmm you psyco bat.
Heinz Kerry said. "And so, at least, if nothing else, you'll have a mom in the White House," she told the crowd
I don't know about these folks but I don't need a 'mom' in the White House. What I want is a leader with cajone's who will help preserve this nation for my children.
Besides, this crazy elitist could never hold a candle to my Mom.
