........"This is unusual in the sense that my client is not seeking an accommodation to practice a particular religious belief, but instead is being discriminated against because she is failing to conform to the religious belief of management," he said.
Officials with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, a federal agency that handles workplace-discrimination complaints, said Morales' case was "a groundbreaker."
But Kujaatele Kweli, CEO of Rising Star, said Morales was fired for insubordination, not for eating bacon. He said she cooked bacon in the office lunchroom's microwave after she was warned twice that her eating pork at work offended co-workers and clients. Rising Star produces self-help DVDs and is designing an Internet filter that would block sites Muslim parents might find inappropriate for their children.
The policy was put in place because "99 percent of our funding comes from a Muslim client," and 30 percent to 40 percent of Rising Star's 40 employees at the time were Muslim, Kweli said. The company now has a staff of five, he said.
"She was not fired because I or anybody found it offensive that she ate pork," Kweli said.
"She was fired because we established a rule that allowed Muslims and Christians to eat together, and Muslims and the rest of the staff could not eat together if we had allowed that to continue."...........

Imagine that. Muslim kids can throw down a prayer mat in class and fall on their face but if a Christian kid passes a note about Jesus they could be suspended.
dogs do seem to love that bacon grease
Uh oh. It don't happen often but something has flown right over my head.
Well it would ruin the kosherness of the food in the deli.
In this case it looks like it was causing problems with other employees (and there were only a handful of employees there anyhow so she's a big fish in a small pond) AND with people coming in to discuss business.
I think she knew what she was doing. It doesn't sound "Christian" to me.
Yes, thanks to the infamous ACLU.
I know, but you just don't ever know for sure. If it was small office, they should have known she was a pork eater.
Do you remember the Hebrew National commercial with Uncle Sam holding the hot dog? I always thought that the neatest commercial.
And the picture shows incomplete coverage near the bottom, and no coverage at all on the slides. Bacon doesn't splatter horizontally? Unless it has side guards.
come on, everyone does it
No *lol* It's too early in the morning for that for me. I just remember my mom having to stick cast iron pots in the oven with some grease to 'cure the pot'. Now that concept flies over my head.
Yes, except for Jewish, and muslims.
Thats how to cook bacon in a microwave.
Well I hope she enjoys her fifteen minutes of fame *lol*
I doubt it.

That's exactly how I feel about Muslims. Whatever respect I had for them pre 9/11, and I did have some, completely disappeared along with the World Trade Center and their subsequent absence of fatwas against the co-conspirators.
It does make for some soggy paper... but its bad for dogs just the same.
Remember the Blue Diamond Almond ads?? A can a week is all we ask??.... SPAM, a can a day is all we ask!
