John Kerry has tried to act tough and avoid the fatal error of looking like wimpy Michael Dukakis, Jimmy Carter or Walter Mondale, but his call for a "more sensitive" war on terrorism is causing him all sorts of embarrassment.
"America has been in too many wars for any of our wishes, but not a one of them was won by being sensitive," Vice President Dick Cheney said in remarks prepared for delivery today in Dayton Ohio. "A sensitive war will not destroy the evil men who killed 3,000 Americans. ... The men who beheaded Daniel Pearl and Paul Johnson will not be impressed by our sensitivity."
Cheney said none of America's heroes would follow Kerry's advice.
"President Lincoln and General Grant didn't wage sensitive wars. Nor did President Roosevelt or Generals Eisenhower and MacArthur."
'So Foolish'
Kerry lacks "deeply held convictions about right and wrong," the vice president noted Wednesday during a forum in Joplin, Mo.
When a citizen asked Lynne Cheney "what in the world" Kerry was thinking about when he made the statement to a group of biased pro-Democrat media types, she replied:
"I just kind of shook my head when I heard that. With all due respect to the senator, it just sounded so foolish. I can't imagine that al-Qaida is going to be impressed by sensitivity."
the really sad thing is, Kerry is being harder on Bush than he would be on the terrorists. Why does he want to wage a "sensitive" War on Terror, but has no problem with a nasty smear campaign?
They call him Flipper!
Clinton = "New Democrat"
Kerry = "Nuance Democrat"
Beautiful, Lynne.
I'm making really great buttered popcorn for that Smackdown.
John Edwards: The political equivalent of breast implants!
***John Edwards: The political equivalent of breast implants!***
Why is that? Something new to make the old and floppy look good?
*GAG* Ewwwww! Where did you find that? My former cheerleader wife can throw a football better than that.
Well at least we know what the Kerry plan for the war on terror is now. Gonna put Martha Stewart on a furlough program to teach Al'quaida Basket weaving and how to make doilies. Ain't that precious. Somebody want to sick the Ermie-nator on this twit.
A sensitive war on terror? What?!? Is it just me or is kerry really starting to implode?
Nah, just something superficial and foolish, but nice to look at.
Gee, I better check my sexuality (57 year old-married 31 years/male). ;-)
This sounds like something from a Retief novel. For those unfamiliar, Jame Retief is an officer in the Corp Diplomatique Terrestienne, the Foreign Service of the Earth in a far future. An invention of sf author Keith Laumer, himself a vet and former Foreign Service author, Retief is the only 'Terry' in the novels that actually does anything decisive against the enemies of his state while his superiors are busy appeasing aggressors, cowering before terrorists and acting sensitive! The novels are a hoot and I recommend them to any one with the time or inclination, not high lit perhaps but humorous and with a core of common sense.
Sheesh, where's my coffee? Foreign Service 'author' = officer.
Queer Eye for the Soldier Guy.
