Andy Rooney offered a cranky commentary yesterday about the two Taxi & Limousine Commission officers who arrested his "60 Minutes" pal Mike Wallace. "I just hate petty authorities," Rooney told the Daily News, reserving his ire for the duo and not for all of the TLC. "I do think that the TLC has done a good job," Rooney said. "New York is one of those places where you can depend on cab drivers being honest."
He did have some curmudgeonly comments about Wallace's using a hired driver and buying meatloaf at a restaurant. Rooney said he personally sticks to driving himself - and that he eats only his own meatloaf. "I would say that I have better taste in food than Mike," joked Rooney, who noted he is a year younger than the 86-year-old Wallace.
But "I admire him," Rooney said. "It could have been me."
Mike Wallace had a "do-you-know-who-I-am" moment. Whadda's he think he is, a Kennedy or something?
Wallace should be keel hauled for his lack of class. A kid on his bike who came here from Indonesia will gladly deliver your meatloaf to your door for a two buck tip.
That must be some meatloaf, to risk jail and all...
Is there anyone at 60 minutes that isn't an octagenarian?
For those residing in Manhattan, raw ground meat should be thrown at the CBS building.
Or all of CBS News for that matter?
"I just hate petty authorities," Rooney told the Daily News,...
Odd, his entire career seems to be built on petty "journalism."
Rooney hasn't died yet?
No, unfortunately.
Maybe Wallace was participating in a blue collar scavenger hunt? You know, where obnoxious people rent a limosene and have a list of things to obtain. Stuff like meatloaf, a half drank bottle of MD 20/20 and some hair from a bum, some food stamps, instant coffee, a thighmaster, and some old spice aftershave.
Ohh that Mike!!! what a scamp!!
I don't think it's a matter of being an octagenarian that bothers me as much that the whole CBS News operation acts like they should be working for the Beijing People's Daily, or for Moscow Pravda when the Communists ran the USSR>
I no longer watch 60 minutes and Looney Rooney.I could care less what happens to any of them. 60 Minutes has turned into a Bush Bashing show.
(This is a correction of my previous post):
I don't think it's a matter of being an octagenarian that bothers me as much as the fact that the whole CBS News operation acts like they should be working for the Beijing People's Daily, or for Moscow Pravda when the Communists ran the USSR.
Wallace & Rooney are typical Manhattan limo liberals who think they are above the rest of us and the law...
Wallace just got a rude awakening...
There's no fool like an old fool...
No.
As I understand it, he and Helen Thomas are in a race to see which of them can continue to live the longest with severe brain atrophy.
