IT wasn't such a gay old time on Rosie O'Donnell's sapphic-friendly cruise. The recent inaugural outing of the former talk show queen's R Family Vacations was a bit of a financial flop. Marketed to gays, lesbians and their families, the sail on the Norwegian Dawn was 40 percent empty with more than 500 empty cabins and a loss of $250,000. Rosie's rep, Cindi Berger, claimed it was an acceptable loss, "due to high start-up costs which every new business experiences. The inaugural cruise far exceeded the company's expectations. R Family Vacations is rapidly selling out next summer's cruise and expects to sell out by the end of the year."

I thought gays and lesbians were being unduly oppressed.
Oppressed people don't go on cruises just for them...
I'm so confused... but not in that way. ;-)
How many more flops will she back before she gets the message that people just aren't interested?
Me too. Sure doesn't sound like they are oppressed.
Rosie must be the world's stupidest 'business woman". How many failed businesses can she handle. Her magazine folded, her Broadway musical flopped, now her travel business is failing.
I hope she doesn't need to return to tv for finanical reasons
Who in the world would want to go on a cruise with a hog?
And Rosie O'disgusting would be the loudest howler if someone marketed a cruise to "'straight' families."
Seems most things this broad puts her (limited) mind to, turns to doo-doo.
That's because there were no "families" to go!
I hope she spearheads Kerry's campaign.
Almost no one showed up for the first week's performances, but the Grand High Tribade's PR people said that they expected this and that it would wind up being a huge hit. It was actually a total flop and a huge financial loss for Her Dykeness.
Now her cruise for perverts with children is off to a slow start, but her PR reps say that they expected this and that it will soon be a huge hit.
How much longer until she's finally broke and she has to sell her bodyguard's Glock for creampuffs?
Actually, the loss of $250,000 is from her start up costs and the cost to operate the cruise. The remaining 40% of the rooms go for significantly more than $50, and so she probably would've recouped the costs by selling out another 10% -20% of the remaining rooms. So the last 20% of the rooms probably would've been profit, so a quarter million in profit for a sold out cruise?
Hmm.. still seems too small.
Insight into the liberal mind. If she's telling the truth, they went into business expecting not to make money. Otherwise, she's lying.
Actually, it's a loss of $500 per empty cabin, which still seems a little low, but not impossible.
I understand they didn't get a warm welcome in Nassau.
Rosie, need not worry about a job. I hear she has a lucrative contract deal, in being employed as the next, Super Bowl Blimp. Bush/Cheney 2004
One for the pinglist....
