Pope fears Bush is antichrist, journalist contends - Church - journalist Wayne Madsden

New Catholic Times, May 18, 2003 WASHINGTON DC -- According to freelance journalist Wayne Madsden, "George W Bush's blood lust, his repeated commitment to Christian beliefs and his constant references to 'evil doers,' in the eyes of many devout Catholic leaders, bear all the hallmarks of the one warned about in the Book of Revelations--the anti-Christ." Madsen, a Washington-based writer and columnist, who often writes for Counterpunch, says that people close to the pope claim that amid these concerns, the pontiff wishes he was younger and in better health to confront the possibility that Bush may represent the person prophesized in Revelations. John Paul II has always believed the world was on the precipice of the final confrontation between Good and Evil as foretold in the New Testament. Before he became pope, Karol Cardinal Wojtyla said, "We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through. I do not think that wide circles of the American society or wide circles of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel." The pope worked tirelessly to convince leaders of nations on the UN Security Council to oppose Bush's war resolution on Iraq. Vatican sources claim they had not seen the pope more animated and determined since he fell ill to Parkinson's Disease. In the end, the pope did convince the leaders of Mexico, Chile, Cameroon and Guinea to oppose the U.S. resolution. Madsen contends that "Bush is a dangerous right-wing ideologue who couples his political fanaticism with a neo-Christian blood cult." COPYRIGHT 2003 Catholic New Times, Inc.

LOL. Bubba Kerry
Beeber?
B for BOTOX !!!!!!!!
My JEWISH husband is more Catholic than Kerry! The Church that he belongs to(The Paulist Center) is barely Catholic.
I think Eggs was referring to Catholics for Kerry, not the Catholic League.
While I don't always agree with Donohue, the Catholic League is far from "whacked." It defends against blatant anti-Catholicism in the press, and does a very good job of it.
Did someone say anti-Christ?
--- As to the Antichrist we teach that the prophecies of the Holy Scriptures concerning the Antichrist, 2 Thess. 2:3-12; 1 John 2:18, have been fulfilled in the Pope of Rome and his dominion. All the features of the Antichrist as drawn in these prophecies, including the most abominable and horrible ones, for example, that the Antichrist "as God sitteth in the temple of God," 2 Thess. 2:4; that he anathematizes the very heart of the Gospel of Christ, that is, the doctrine of the forgiveness of sins by grace alone, for Christ's sake alone, through faith alone, without any merit or worthiness in man (Rom. 3:20-28; Gal. 2:16); that he recognizes only those as members of the Christian Church who bow to his authority; and that, like a deluge, he had inundated the whole Church with his antichristian doctrines till God revealed him through the Reformation -- these very features are the outstanding characteristics of the Papacy. (Cf. Smalcald Articles, Triglot, p. 515, Paragraphs 39-41; p. 401, Paragraph 45; M. pp. 336, 258.) Hence we subscribe to the statement of our Confessions that the Pope is "the very Antichrist." (Smalcald Articles, Triglot, p. 475, Paragraph 10; M., p. 308.)---

They STILL do. I saw it on DU last week.
I'm waiting for "neo-neos".
Neo-phylactics
Means: "Liberal in a Bunny Suit"
"Denounce them, Senator Kerry"!!
I hate to nitpick, but it's the Book of Revelation. There is no S on the end. :/
I was laughing this morning thinking -- I'm sure there is some good liberal out there trying to prove that Jesus' last name started with a K not a C and since those closest to him called him Francois his initials were really JFK.
George Walker Bush (6,6,4)
Maybe they left out two letters on the last name? If someone digs deep enough, maybe they'll find out the Bush family name used to be spelled: Beusch...
But what would be the point? The anti-Christ can't be him... Now, Kerry... There's some interesting correlations between prophecy and Kerry... Except he's not charismatic enough, nor handsome enough, nor likable enough. And it ain't his wife either..
Shoulda known!
Oh, I agree that the Catholic League does some good work. I am not familiar with Catholics For Kerry.
OT: I'd like to make peace with you. FRiends?
