VANITY: Swift Boat Question
TBP | Now | TBP

I need information.

The Associated Press is claiming that one of the authors of the book Unfit ofr Command is a FReeper who has posted some, ah, inteeresting things. (At least they mentioned us.)

AP reports as follows:

WASHINGTON (AP) - One of the authors of a new anti-John Kerry book frequently posted comments on a conservative Web site describing Muslims and Catholics as pedophiles and Pope John Paul II as senile.

But as he prepared to launch the book, "Unfit for Command," Jerry Corsi apologized for the remarks in an interview with The Associated Press Tuesday, saying they were meant as a joke and he never intended to offend anyone.

In chat room entry last year on freerepublic.com, Corsi writes: "Islam is a peaceful religion — just as long as the women are beaten, the boys buggered and the infidels are killed."

In another entry, he says: "So this is what the last days of the Catholic Church are going to look like. Buggering boys undermines the moral base and the lawyers rip the gold off the Vatican altars. We may get one more Pope, when this senile one dies, but that's probably about it."

Is there any truth to this or is it just liberal media spin? If so, what is the gentleman's screen name (as I'm sure he was either misquoted or quoted out of context)?

"We may get one more pope, before this senile one dies, but that's about it"

Though his words were to scorn the Catholic Church and the Pope, this prediction about the Pope may have been quite right. An 11th century Bishop and mystic, Saint Malachy, prophesied the number of remaining popes (112) before the end times. He has accurately described each future Pope with traits and characteristics that pertain specifically to their pontificate, their personality, or their country of origin. Here is an outline from a Catholic web site:

"An 11th-century Irish Bishop Máel Máedoc Morgair who introduced Roman Catholic Liturgy to Ireland presumably had gifts of healing, prophecy and miracles. After his death he was canonised as Saint Mallachy (1094?-1148)

In 1130, when he was on a pilgrimage to Rome to have an audience with Pope Innocent II, at the sight of the "immortal City" he had a vision of all the popes from his time until the endtime! These predictions "Prophetia de Futuribus Pontificidbus Romanis" were presented to Innocent II and misplaced in Vatican archives, but later they were published in 1596 by a Benedict Monk.

Malachy predicted a succesion line of 112 popes and their characteristics in the form of thumbnail sketches which he wrote down in little rhymes. Acccording to Mallachy's predictions the present Polish Pope from Krakow, is no 110, and so we have one more Pope to go, called "Gloria Olivae" before the very last one… "Petrus Romanus", about whom he wrote: "In the final persecution of the church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock through many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful judge will judge the people."

I visit another messageboard and some of the libs were trying to demonize him for these comments. I quickly reminded them of all their own bigoted, hateful, nasty remarks in previous posts and I haven't heard a peep out of them. I wonder why?

As long as people are honest and take responsibility for their actions, then it is no longer an issue.

In what world?

Honesty and responsibility are good, and Corsi did well on the Hannity Show today in those regards. Politics is a blood sport, however, and this issue isn't close to over.

End of subject.

Do you have word that the Democrats have given up the fight?

"I have to admit, watching Pope John Paul II address President Bush was painful to watch."

Priests who have traveled to Rome and met the Pope all seem to say that his mind is very sharp. His appearance, to give an example, is like Mohammed Ali. Ali shakes and looks a mess, but they say he too is still quite sharp mentally. Also, the medication the Holy Father takes makes his face puffy and causes him to slurr. That said, I wish he's step down and let a younger man take the job. The most brilliant mind in the world can't get much done in aged body wracked with illness.

Let's see. Kerry for 8 years and then Hillary for 7 1/2 before the end of time. Boy what a legacy that would be. "I was president when the world ended!"

But who would there be to listen to her?

Try not to be so damn sanctimonious.

I sound phony without my sanctimony.

And, FGS, do NOT tell anybody you agreed with me.

No no... I've told them you agree with me.

No question the fight has just begun. I laughed at O'reilly this evening when he said it was "dying down'.

We have to win this. The democrats only hope is to discredit 247 people.

Oneill and co. have the nuts to hang tough, but they need our help in any way possible.

No, Democrats have no honor.

As a Freeper, I read his post today and have accepted his apology. That is what I was trying to say.

As a fellow Freeper, it is end of subject for me.

In my six years here, I can honestly say that is the most truthful statement I've seen.

Shoot, two reputations gone to hell in just a couple of posts.

Agreed and what you said is factual. Like Mohamed Ali and Pope John Paul II, they are both suffering from the same disease.

However, it is very difficult for us to watch it happen.

To attack someone for posting an observation, of the obvious, is rather lame.

Well, Alan Colmes discussed this tonight to refute John O'Neill, so I'd say, yes, it does.

That's an 'ad hominem' attack that doesn't refute O'Neill whatsoever. So what if Corsi said nasty things --- does it make the charges any less true?

Notice that NOBODY is refuting any of the charges in the book. So far, they've only attacked the character, funding and motives of the Swifties. I have yet to hear anybody really provide proof that any of the charges is false. If they could, they'd have a great libel case. Problem is, they can't release kerry's records because of the number of inconsistencies that would be found.

While we are asking questions. I thought one of the Swift Vets for Truth was the gunner behind Kerry. Doesn't this mean he was on the boat? Doesn't this mean, he was like 18 inches from the guy?

Doesn't that qualify for on the boat with Kerry?

The point is, for a lot of people that won't matter.

Ad hominems are bogus argumentation, but they also work with a lot of people. If they didn't, no one would use them.

Unfortunately, the counterattack against Corsi will have longer legs elsewhere than it will here.

I don't see any problem with these statements, just standard cocktail conversation.

By the way, standard Lutheran doctrine holds that the Pope is the anti-Christ. Isn't that worse than being senile? Why don't I hear the lefties whining about the Islamic press constantly defaming Jews.

HEY AP......QUOTE ME....

The AP is a bunch of liberal slime. They have shown their biased intent. They are covering up for their boy John Kerry. The AP must answer why the are not digging the claims against Kerry like they did the claims against Bush. Instead, the just attack Vets with hit pieces. The AP must be afraid what they would find. Why has the AP not demanded to see ALL of Kerry's Military, Medical, and family financial records...as they did of Bush.

There you go AP.....Quote me!

I didn't say it refuted anything; I said it's one of their talking points now; the feeble minded, aka their constituents, will buy it.
