SHIP v.s. BOAT - Lanny Davis and DNC newest smear tactic.
Posted on 08/10/2004 6:44:34 AM PDT by chambley1
Lanny Davis, on FOX News Hannity and Clones smeared Swift Boat for Truth vet Mr. Gardner by constantly stating his fellow vets never served on Kerry's ship!
It's they're newest trick to smear the truth - make people think Kerry's ship was a destroyer or something - not a "ski" boat with an Evinrude outboard that served side-by-side with other swift boats and CREWS.
The Swift Boat Vet for Truth should take a scale model of their swift boat to all interviews to refute the DNC smear merchants.

Technically, the Navy calls anything a "boat" can get loaded onto a "ship" .....
(Submarines excepted, which are "boats" because they were originally so small that they had to get carried overseas on larger ships. But, then again, submarines have the pointy end at the back, and always sink.)
That Lanny Davis is using this trick simply exaggerates the dnc's "lawyers'" meaning of whatever "is" is to hide the truth.
And the media's ignorance and foolishness of the military.
And the media's desperate measures to hide their hatred of Bush.
The Swift Boat operations are more like a bomber squadron where the crews on adjacent boats live, eat, sleep, and train together in 24-hour-a-day proximity; then go on missions always right next to each other.
You end up "living" with the squadron, and get to know each other's methods because your life, and their lives, depend on that close association.

I was told (by a squid!) that a BOAT fits in a SHIP.
Like tha Captain's launch is a boat, there were PT boats, they fit on a SHIP.

Basically what the dims are stating that anyone not on Kerry's boat was fighting the war on a different planet. Too bad that the talking heads trying to defend the Swifties mustn't have served in the military.
Whether you were in an infantry company or in a boat squadron you DID KNOW the people in other rifle squads or swift boats. Kerry's own movies he filmed when he was "on location" in Nam show the close contact with other boats.
Hannity last night blew every chance to silence Lanny with that fact as he blew the same chance he had with Estrich. He was never in the military and missed the main point.
The dems would have you believe that when 2 teams play in the Super Bowl that after the game neither team even knows who they were playing, or what went on in the game since they didn't huddle with the opposition.
The Swifties were peers of Kerry, fellow officers who served in the same squadron either ALONG SIDE Kerry or above him. They know of his actions and since they were doing the same jobs are acutely capable of critiqueing his actions.
They KNEW Kerry, fought, ate and slept in the same general area, environment as Kerry.
They know him better than I hope we ever get to know him if he was ever to become President and put us all in his boat, dead in the water, out of ammo and with a commander looking for a white flag.

I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours! No,but I wish I did!!!

Did someone correct him? Anyone in the seagoing services would have laughed at such a term--it proves Lanny's ignorance of all things seaworthy. This tactic won't win him any new friends in the Marines, Navy or Coast Guard!

I was just talking with a Navy Reservist buddy here at work. He told me that a Vietnam era Swift Boat would have been about 25 feet long. They usually went out patrolling in groups of 2 boats. However, the entire unit of 4-5 boats opperated together as a unit and worked on missions and slept together at base. The Vietnam era swift boat (PCF) was 50 feet long with a beam of 13.5 feet. Your friend may be talking about the smaller PBR.

Pretty!
Smooth, nice curves, well proportioned, good color scheme, nice coatings, looks well taken-care-of, seems to be a strong performer but casually equipped, good ribs and a nice rack down the sides.
Is she still under warranty? How much is the upkeep?
(By the way, that's a nice boat too...... )
Does Miss Laura know?
