I'm afraid I may have to add on a doo-dad I have always disdained. My eyes aren't the greatest anymore at my age (47) and it's getting harder to see my front sight. A buddy suggested I put one of those "Laser-Max" gizmos (replaces the recoil guide rod assembly right beneath the barrel). I generally don't like lasers, but my friend suggested that the dot might be more visible than the sights, or at least help with sight alignment. I'm thinking about it. They ain't cheap, either!

I'm 47 too. My "doo dad" is a pin-hole aperture on my safety glasses. It changes the depth of field so I can see the target, front post and back blade. Works with or without my corrective lenses. A must for competition bullseye matches. The laser pointer helps rapid placement when you don't have enough time to line up the sights with you eyes. The Crimson Trace products are pretty good. The LaserMax guide rod replacements are pricey at $329. Still, that is a great place to install a pointer.
