"Now, will ABC's NIGHTLINE address Cambodia?"

My guess is Nightline will be devoted entirely to trashing the Swift Boat Vets. IMHO.

NIGHTLINE will focus on the people who are financing these dastardly accusations (and their politics)... not the facts of the story. You could read that between the lines in the thread posted earlier today.

Don't expect anything but the worst from ABC.

Here's a copy of my email to them this afternoon at 4:10 PM:

To: ted.koppel@abc.com
Subject: The Show Tonight

Greetings to Michel Martin,

I understand you will be the anchor as correspondents Jake Tapper and Mike Cerre address the Swift-Boat controversy tonight on the show. (Tonight on Nightline--The Swift Boat controversy ABC News Nightline | 8/9/2004 | Larry Sievers
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1188068/posts)

I hope you'll all be taking the advice of Larry Sabato who appeared on Fox News Channel earlier today when he said
this (paraphrased):

"Someone is lying. It is the responsibility of serious minded, objective journalists to dig up the truth of this matter. Politics is a tough, rough and tumble business, but it has to be that way. The voters have a right to know who is lying, and the liar(s) should pay the price."

I'm enclosing a couple of sources below that you may be able to use to do just that.

Warm regards,
Name and town

MICHAEL KRANISH, THE GLOBE, AND THE CAMPAIGN BOOK [08/09 01:54 PM]

Want to see something that complicated this issue? When Kranish was contracted to write the introduction, the in-progress book was issued an ISBN, or unique machine-readable identification number, of 1586483145.

According to the publisher, Public Affairs, when it struck a deal to publish the campaign's platform, it dropped its plans to publish the book with Kranish's introduction.

Then they published Kerry's campaign book. As a FreeRepublic reader has noted, the Kerry-Edwards campaign book, has an ISBN of...

...1586483145.

The upshot? The publisher, Public Affairs, has just created a big headache for the Globe and Michael Kranish, by initially touting an independent book with a reporter covering Kerry involved, and then publishing Kerry's campaign book under the same number. Now Amazon has the new book with the old cover and Kranish is being called a Kerry campaign shill.

Kranish may have misquoted Elliott in fact, it seems pretty clear that Kranish interpreted some of Elliott's statements about wishing to reword the specifics of his affidavit about Kerry as a recanting of his entire criticism but he's not a paid operative of the Democratic campaign.

Kerry/Kranish Book Controversy - Check the ISBN's (Drudge was right)

Here's something more on the Boston Globe story claiming that its reporter Kranish was not connected to the Kerry/Edwards official campaign bio:

BOTH THE OLD KRANISH COVER AND THE NEW KERRY/EDWARDS COVER HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISBN NUMBER ACCORDING TO THE PUBLISHER, AMAZON, AND BARNES AND NOBLE. If these sites are accurate, the books are connected as revisions!

ISBN's are unique identification numbers given to every book that comes out for identification purposes. No two different books have the same ISBN. Only books that are identical do. If the numbers are accurate this should mean that, just as the New York Daily News published, the new Kerry/Edwards book is a revised substitute for the Kranish one. In other words, Drudge and all the others who originally reported on Kranish's tie to the project were right.

Compare them and you will see they are one and the same:

ISBN FOR KRANISH COVER ACCORDING TO BARNES AND NOBLE: 1586483145

ISBN FOR KRANISH COVER ACCORDING TO PUBLISHER SITE CACHE: 1-58648-314-5

ISBN FOR REVISED KERRY EDWARDS COVER ACCORDING TO PUBLISHER SITE RIGHT NOW: 1-58648-314-5

ISBN FOR REVISED KERRY EDWARDS COVER ACCORDING TO AMAZON: 1586483145
