I am looking for a gun range in Houston (preferably one that is within walking distance of the University of Houston, or that is reachable from there via some sort of public transportation) that is "woman-friendly" and that would offer rentals.
Thanks.
Definitely!
We just gotta work out the details.
A self-centered scheduling note, if I may be so bold . . . I'm unavailable weekends in October and November.
That's okay, sweetlips.
I expect to be crowned king before October, and I'm going to move Saturday to Wednesday.
If that doesn't work, I'm gonna outlaw any extra curricular activities except shooting.
Just don't tell them if you're carrying a firearm - I DO think they discriminate on that basis, being what you'd call a "mugger-friendly" environment.
Seriously, though; if you mean "clean and well-lighted" just say so.
You'll usually pay quite a bit extra for that perk; I personally don't give a rip if a place has lace doilies on the firing line, if it's convenient, cheap, and safe.
And poorly-lighted just better simulates the defensive-weapons scenario.
Living in a country where even the police don't carry firearms...I'd LOVE to get a chance to go to a gun range.
Only time I ever held a firearm was on my uncles farm.
I'd just LOVE to try it, in a controlled environment.
Eaker shot it, so you KNOW it ain't right.
Slight correction to that statement:
"Eaker shot it, and you KNOW he ain't right."
I got a guest bedroom, but I'm a little short on airplane tickets from Ireland.
We cannot have much fun at American Shooting Center.
I am pretty tied up at work right now, but I will look into a less NAZI range that can accomodate a .50BMG.
Sorry TC, but I don't like these people and the idiots that work there. When the M1 blew up they should have dialed 911 not their attorney.
There was not one person on staff that had any level of medical training and there should be. I have not attended a shoot since that I have not brought a suitable first-aid kit to match my training. Thank God and good training we have not needed it.
El Roy, if we can have it anywhere else it would be better. However, your clambakes are always the best so I will leave it up to you and will only offer help if I have any.
You may live to regret that!
You could end up with a Paddy houseguest demanding 'gimme a gun' some day soon! :-)
Eaker's gonna be busy.
Seriously though.
If I went on vacation to the US, would they let me use a firearm on a gun range?
THAT would be SO cool.
I thought about that place because NYTexan was going to come to Houston to shoot with us.
Tomorrow I'll call Dietz's and make the arrangements.
We need to get everyone's agreement on the date.
I can't speak for the whole US, but if you ever decide to come to Texas, we'd not only LET you shoot, we'd feed you a big, Texas size steak and encourage you to fire a whole bunch of different kinds of weapons!
yes- many ranges allow people to rent handguns- sort of a "try before you buy" kind of thing. and if you go to top gun...you can rent full-auto machineguns. Last count they had an uzi, a sten, a thompson, and that 9mm variant of the M16 whose names excapes me.
I agree to go shoot in San Antonio in October.
That was easy!
I've got a gun safe full.
Take your pick.
