Wonder if the press is going to treat this like they did the swift boat ad-- with criticism of the veterans and no review of the facts about Kerry's performance? Four months is more than alot of people served in Vietnam, but it's less than the average stint. Are we going to have to hold this liar in "highest regard" because of 120 days of active service?
Paging John McCain...
This tells us about Kerry's character, or lack thereof; but I really wish someone would bring out his voting record as a Senator and scrutinize that.
There was a movie of the same name "Tour of Duty" starring Michael J. Fox. (produced around 1990)
In the movie, some American soldiers kidnap a Vietnamese woman, rape and eventually kill her. This movie is hauntingly similar to the accounts of "atrocities" which Kerry mentions witnessing (or perhaps even participating in) in Vietnam.
The movie mentions pillaging and plundering like "Genghis Khan." Kerry also refers to Genghis Khan in his reflections about his time in Vietnam.
Question: Is the movie "Tour of Duty," based on Kerry's biography, or is his biography based on the movie?
You mean there was no "Holiday in Cambodia"?!?!?! I thought his experiences there were the basis of the Dead Kennedy's classic tune! Gee, my whole world is crumbling!
Lucian Goldberg filling in for Laura Ingraham today............
Sounds like she'll be talking about the SWIFTVET quite a bit today.
bump
Again, I don't think this is a good way to attack Kerry. Along with the SB vet kickoff last week, there came a good deal of bad press the SB vets got in the latter half of the week. Its coming down to a "he said-I said" contest. Kerry has his group of vets, the SB vets have theirs. The public is left to decide who to believe. Part of their decision involves why would one or the other lie. Kerry ends up being the martyr since he's being attacked rather harshly. You never ever make your political opponent a martyr and give them the sympathy vote.
The SB vets may feel good, but I think its the wrong way to go about this.
JMHO.
Hanoi John might have heard of the Army LCU 1577 with 11 crewmen that was interned by Cambodia on or about 17 July 1968 and just appropriated the story - with a lot of changes - into his own version of his heroic persona.
In Kerry's case there doesn't seem to be Zip between "H"ero and "Z"ero.
Why would he lie about something that could be investigated prove him to be a liar? (I'm not saying he isnt a liar,Im just puzzled)
I hope some local newsman in a town Kerry is visiting will have the guts to ask him if he spent Christmas 1968 in Cambodia. I don't think any national newperson has the b@lls.
