I have had trouble finding Bush-Cheney '04 campaign materials, so I went to the official George W. Bush re-election website to try to purchase these materials online. At first, I decided to buy 2 bumper stickers, $1.50 total at $0.75 each. No big deal, as this was a reasonable price. But when I went to the checkout phase, I encountered sticker-shock as I was charged $9.47 shipping (UPS Ground). I know that these bumper stickers can be shipped through the post office for $0.60, so if occurred to me that some major profit is being made on shipping charges. Its bad enough that we supporters of President Bush must pay for such campaign materials, but to be overcharged on shipping on top of that leaves an extra bad taste in my mouth.
Pound some sand Moby.
I agree with your assessment of the Bush campaign, which has gone from "can't lose" in 2002 to "thin ice" currently. Bush's campaign heads are directly responsible for this and the ineffectiveness of the current Republican leadership is why I switched my voter registration to Independent last month.
If they haven't already happened, check out your local county or state fairs. We had our county fair last week, and I was able to get several free bumper stickers of different styles at the county's Republican Party booth. Next weekend, we're going to the state fair (Iowa State Fair, #2 summer destination in the U.S. according to USA Weekend magazine), and I'll be looking for the state level GOP booth to see what else they may have, and hopefully be able to purchase some t-shirts to save on S&H.
I prefer magnetic bumperstickers myself.

Make your order worthwhile. I ordered bumper stickers, buttons, a lapel pin, an "interstate W'04" license plate, a key chain, visor, and travel mug.
I agree (as a seasoned advertising & marketing professional) that this campaign is seriously lacking in exposure compared to the Dems.
So rather than griping about it, let's do our share to help solve the problem!
Spend your money where it will be most visible. Travel mugs sit at my desk (to annoy my Kerry co-workers) and go all over my work building with me (total employees 2,200+ ). Cashiers and customers in stores see my button on my purse and my key chain.
The bumper sticker goes on the back of my car and the license plate up front. 2 more bumper stickers went onto my sun shade which I pop in every time I park my car (why they don't offer a Bush sun shade, I don't know).
T-shirts were too pricey so I make my own transfers. One is a "PW4W" take-off on the official "YPF4" logo. (PW= Professional Woman & Prayer Warrior!)
I work our 3 x's a week at Curves and wear a pro-Bush tshirt every time.
Think about how you can get the most public exposure out of your Bush marketing materials and use them! The shipping is steep but if you put in a decent order it's worthwhile.
I ordered extra buttons & bumper stickers and keep them in the car, ready to give away if the opportunity arises.
BTW, I already had some nutjob ride my bumper and blare his horn at me, apparently in a fit of lefty rage over my bumper sticker, LOL!
Good! If someone defaces it or keys my car, so what! It's a small price to pay considering what's at stake. I'll just stick on my "a liberal vandalized me --->" sticker and keep on going!
sorry, YPF4 should read YP4W
Thanks for your reply. Good suggestions as far as maximum exposure. I'm going to look at GOP headquarters in neighboring (more populous) counties and see what they have. I will drive the extra mile to pick up free campaign materials, but there is something fundamentally wrong with having to pay for them (especially when many of us have already donated to the B-C '04 campaign). Thanks again.
Actually, you are correct - I live in the area and Bush headquarters is populated with starry-eyed twenty-somethings hoping that they will be the next George Stephanopolous. Life experiences - zero. The "adults" Mehlman, Schmidt, et al. are just a few years farther along and don't know anything about the world outside politics. They think purely in terms of what the inside-the-beltway culture believes. They don't listen to you, Freepers, but to the nattering nabobs (sorry Spiro) on cable talk shows and the media, to get their next clue as to where to drop another 40 million $$.
You remember George Bush's eternal moment, the bullhorn call to arms at the World Trade ruins; well, these guys have let the Democrats veto its use - "exploiting the tragedy" Dems and the media say - so the Bush amateurs meekly come up with some vanilla message that nobody listens to. The bumber stickers are another example - with a quarter BILLION dollars in funds, they can't give them out, not realizing free advertising those things give. We are in Bush country where I live, but even here the Kerry bumber stickers outnumber Bush ones 10 to 1.
Freepers should stop living in a fantasy world (like the town of Perfect in those TV ads). Rather than attack the messenger who is pointing out that the campaign kings are wearing no clothes, they should be deluging the Bush-Cheney 04 campaign offices and the RNC to get off their smug butts or let someone else take over. Remember, all those non-producers in the campaign will be in cushy K St. think tank jobs the next four years, while you endure President John Kerry. Come after people like me if you want, but I am not the one shaping events that will result in John Kerry's victory.
You should be mad as hell, and not taking it anymore, rather than dreaming on that our cause is so pure that George Bush is ordained by God to win. God doesn't care - and apparently the campaign geniuses in Arlington don't very much either.
Oldbill, I cannot do any better than your last post on this issue. Outstanding! You expressed the gripes that I, and other Bush supporters who do not walk in blind goose-step with Ed Gillespe and other Republican elitists, have had with this entire benign campaign. The GOP is no longer the party of Reagan, Helms, and Gingrinch, but instead has been hijacked by the "moderate" faction led in recent years by Frist, Lott, and other softies who are afraid to engage the Democrats in attack-dog politics.
And to those of you Bush-bots who dare not disagree with anything the RNC does, I have discovered that certain groups (B-C '04 or Spalding Group) are profiting on the sales of bumper stickers and other campaign materials. The source for Bush-Cheney bumper stickers in the Greensboro, NC area (population 250,000) is selling bumper stickers and buttons for $0.25, yard signs for $0.75 (losing their ass if they purchased direct from Spalding). Spalding Group is hawking these items for: $0.75 bumper stickers, $0.85 buttons, and $1.95 for yard signs, not to mention the inflated shipping costs. Okay, Spalding uses UPS, but could use the postal service if they wanted to. Hell, the weekly barrage of Bush-Cheney campaign donation requests are mailed USPS, so why not the bumper stickers at $0.60 per shipment? Yes, I hate to break it to those who do not want to see, but someone is profiting on the distribution of these materials, and it's not the out-of-the-loop Bush supporters. Whew, I'm so glad I changed my registration to Independent!
Oh, I forgot to mention that Campaign material will be running late this election UNLESS YOUR STATE IS A TARGETED/CONTESTED STATE.
