"Parsons said he did not feel CNN was liberal, but instead has a bias for the truth. He conceded that journalists are often perceived as liberal because they tend to challenge the establishment."
The media all search for the stories that show a one sided truth. That is to say, if a story is true and harms the GOP it's grand standed. If the story is true and it supports the GOP it's down played. That way they can claim they reported both sides, which they did. But what is missing is the fury at which the stories are reported. Look at the Newt and Hillary book deals. Both stories were reported but who got attacked and who got praised?
Begala is a pure propagandist, a PR advocate, who injects into almost any issue a pro-left wing, pro-dem crapweasel, anti-good guy Republican message. There is NEVER any question what side of the issue he will advocate.
I, for one, assume that Begala's bias is replecated at evey program and, therefore, very, very seldom watch CNN. It is clearly not a media outlet that even pretends to be objective. CNN is propaganda not journalism!
I think it was here on FR that I saw a thread/article on a poll of journalism schools, specifically the views of the Professors and the students at the time of the poll.
Again, IIRC, the statistics were 80% of Profs were Liberal, and surprise, surprise, so were the students.
It begins in the Colleges. I remember having to fight an English Prof in College who was so far left I was sure he was a card-carrying Commie. He used every opportunity to push his agenda, and I remember that in this one class, there were enough of us Pubbies to fight back. One time, when it got thick and heavy, someone in the back of the class, after heaving a heavy sigh, said plaintively, "Do you suppose we could all get back to a discussion of the book and I might be able to get my money's worth for this class.
At that point, 4 of us stood and gave him a standing O.
We were bias-free for the remainder of the semester because the Prof couldn't find a way or decided not to weave his Socialist leanings into our analysis of the books we were reading. (Beowulf et al)
But I also remember taking that discussion home, and talking at the dinner table, about this particular Prof. My Dad was outraged and asked me if I was dropping the course! I told him that I felt that if he (the Prof.) now kept to the subject, he was best known in this area, and it would be worthwhile to continue the course.
In the minds of leftist jounalists, "establishment = conservative". That is a lesson that was taught to them in jounalism school by the 70's leftists that dominate our universities. Lost on these folks is the fact that by dominating our universities, media and unions, the leftists are now the "establishment".
Recent surveys show that young people (who rebel against the establishment) are becoming more and more conservative. The youth of our country see what our elite press cannot. They are rebelling against the liberal establishment.
