A 19-year-old PETA supporter was arraigned Tuesday on a second-degree assault charge accusing him of punching a member of the family that owns Georgios Furs, Camillus police said.
At a Saturday evening gathering of about 10 people, William C. Prusinowski, of Camillus, became upset when Kristoforos J. Politis, also 19, of Onondaga, showed up at a Camillus residence on Richlee Drive, said Capt. Tom Winn.
Prusinowski, of 110 Gordon Parkway, is affiliated with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, according to police. Politis' family owns Georgios Furs on South Salina Street in Syracuse, and he works there.
According to statements by witnesses, Prusinowski called Politis an "animal murderer," and told him to get out, Winn said.
Prusinowski made comments about the fur business and Politis' family, Winn said.
When Politis began to turn around to leave, Prusinowski punched Politis in the face, knocking him to the ground and causing serious injury to his eye, Winn said.
"This vicious assault was solely based on the victim's affiliation with the fur business," Winn said.
Prusinowski was originally charged with third-degree assault, but that was upgraded to second-degree assault when Politis needed to see an eye surgeon for his injury, Winn said. Politis also suffered a concussion, Winn said.
The charge is a felony. Prusinowski was sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center pending payment of $1,500 cash bail or bond, Winn said. He was released on bail Tuesday.
When Prusinowski came in for his arraignment, he had PETA literature and what appeared to be a member card with him, Winn said.
It was clear from statements that the two men had previous encounters, he said.
Politis attended the party with Nicholas Christo who had a friend living at the Richlee Drive home, Winn said. Christo indicated that he knew about Prusinowski's PETA involvement and didn't realize he would be at the party, Winn said.
Police had no indication that alcohol was involved in the incident, Winn said.
Prusinowski did not return phone calls seeking comment.
Look for these people to side with the islamic terrorists. ALF, ELF,etc. these people HATE human beings with a hatred you and I can't understand.
No surprise here. PETA is a big funding source for eco-terrorists, such as ELF.
MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Penn of the Penn and Teller comedy/magic team says he looks forward to the daily death threats he gets from PETA. He says you can't write comedy like theirs.
MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Mr. Prusinowski will sh** his cotton jocks when he finds out that they serve meat in prison and the guards are all wearing high grade leather shoes!!
hehe! You're right unless they let him eat a special meal.
I say that the victim should be handed a rope and use it to lower this clown into a pit of rabid mink.
HATE CRIME! Life sentence!
I saw Penn Jillette, (of Penn & Teller fame), on Dennis Miller's show the other day. Jillette mentioned that PETA members have sent him threatening letters. The PETA crowd are absolute lunatics.
Like the Malvo Veggie Loaf. :)
Dare I ask what that is??? Maybe not nevermind! LOL
He'll get served 'meat' in prison, that's for sure.
heh, beat me to it.
Yeah! The spent shells are the icing on the cake.(That poor dog must be tired. That's a whole lotta bird there.)
Instead of arresting him for assault, they should have stomped him into the ground and tossed into a pig sty to recover.
THAT would have been justice where he could have learned a lesson about life.
Govt interventions in personal squabbles have ruined this country --- thank you lawyer-scumbags!
