The Maginot Line ³ The Burka Curtain
I just watched a History Channel program about the Maginot Line in 1939-1940 separating France from Germany and how the French believed it could keep them safe. I was not informed by the program because I pretty much knew the story of how the Germans, were able to skirt the line, and conquer France in 1940, because of the belief that the French generals had that France was secure behind the Maginot Line.
Move forward in time to 1967 where I was an American soldier on the West German/East German border who went out every day to make sure that the ¡§Commies¡¨ didn¡¦t infiltrate overnight and try to conquer West Germany. I looked out daily across the border and the gulf was more than space but it was two very different societies facing each other along this frontier. Two different ideologies faced-off across the rows of fences and land mines to make sure that there was no encroachment into the other¡¦s territory/civilization. What I saw that when I looked East ¡V into East Germany -- there were no automobiles and fancy autobahns -- just trails and wagons pulled by horses. There was out dated technology ¡V smoke stacks and dingy villages and the people were held literally in chains in the East. I was able to see that the divide wasn¡¦t really because we in the West, were trying to take what they had in the East, but it was because the corruption of socialism, that had to have a buffer from Western Civilization to protect the corruption of Marxism.
What got me thinking is that from Hadrian ¡¦s Wall in England built by the Romans to the Great Wall of China to the Iron Curtain there have always been walls to separate civilizations who are in conflict. Given that history repeats itself then why wouldn¡¦t there have to be a ¡§Burka Curtain¡¨ in the near future?
If George Bush had not attacked Afghanistan, and the Taliban had prospered ¡V and Pakistan had fallen to become an Islamic Republic and the possibility of Iraq becoming stronger with Saddam still in control and Iran obtaining nuclear weapons? Wouldn¡¦t we need to have a ¡§Burka Curtain¡¨ to protect the West?
So when I hear about all of the Mid-Eastern people in Europe demanding that Western/European societies adopt Muslim laws and customs ¡V it makes we wonder will we need to have a wall that separates the West from the Islamic crazies? Will bricks, mortar and razor wire be the solution to our current culture clash? Will the leaky border between the US and Mexico and Canada look like the border between East and West Germany? Will Kerry¡¦s programs of increased Homeland security mean that we live in Fortress America?
Open to Freeper wisdom for the answer!
Most likely, but then I didn't read the post.
Am I paranoid?
I certainly don't think you are. However, where would the line be drawn? It seems that it is not just Europe that is catering to the Islamics. It is right here in our own country as it makes sure that no offense is given to them. They get a free pass and Christians are put on the defense, even though we are supposed to be on the offense with the Gospel.
" However, where would the line be drawn?"
Yes, this is my question and I'm not sure where it could be drawn since the borders have become jokes all around the world and the left is pushing hard to make an open world.
The clash of civilizations isn't racism or intolerance it is survival and nobody takes it seriouly.
" Most likely "
I probably wouldn't read your post either so we're even.
Oh my goodness, I was not serious about not reading your post. I was simply being a smart a**. For what ever reason I simply cannot state. Actually your post is very thoughtful & well thought out and I read it in entirey. My apologies if I have offended you FRiend.

No offense was taken but I can give back what is dished out -- I from a really bad neighborhood in Chicago.
Let's face it there are too many people who take themselves too seriously around these parts so I did like your post.
" a wall is an irrelevant distraction "
If the conflict is between two states with armies then you make a good point but the current conflict is purely between cultures. So if a stronger culture attacks the weaker -- and in our case the Muslims are attacking the Western Culture -- we don't seem have a good defense against them -- or will to repell them.
Western culture is too weak in will and purpose to build any kind of wall and to put up a defense.
That an understatment! Glad to know your not one of them!
If France turns to be Saudi-France and Denmark becomes an Islamic Republic by let's say 2030. (I've heard some people suggest that is possible and could very well happen in our life times.) Soon the European countries who remain "Western" are facing a new "Domino Effect" where if one falls to Islamism then several must also fall.
So the future of Europe could mean that military gains in the Mid-East are meaningless if the Islamist expansion continues???
Western culture is too weak in will and purpose to build any kind of wall and to put up a defense.
Western culture and a wall? My goodness, the World Court would have a hissy fit if they even thought we were thinking this and you know that it won't be long before this nation will cave in and stand by verdicts of this "We hate anything American or Jewish" Court.
The wall will have to be an ideological wall divided by ideology. Guaranteed, it will divide this nation.
"World Court would have a hissy fit"
Yea, look at what the UN said about the wall between Palestine and Israel -- they don't like it -- even thought it is sucessful at preventing terror attacks.
I just read that Kofi Annan's son is a devout Muslim and I infer that old Kofi himself is a Muslim too. So the Europeans and the Africans are pretty much on the other side of the wall. (The Burka Curtain)
So dividing the US of A. I live in California and I work with an Hispanic lady married to an Iranian Muslim. She thinks that Bush is sent by the Devil to corrupt this country. It could be that the curtain will divide Nevada and California.
She thinks that Bush is sent by the Devil to corrupt this country.
So she didn't think the same of Clinton? And, does she think that Kerry is different than Bush? I have to believe that the Islam religion thinks all of America is of the devil.
