Kerry campaign train gets whistles at stop

SEDALIA, United States (AFP) - Democratic presidential contender John Kerry and running mate John Edwards ran into a group of Republicans whose whistles and shouts drowned out a cheering crowd of supporters when their "Believe in America" train made a brief stop here overnight.

With signs proclaiming "Four more years" and "Flush the Johns", supporters of President George W. Bush in the November 2 elections were seen and heard above several hundred "Kerry-Edwards" followers at the station, as the Democratic hopefuls and their wives appeared at the rear of the train.

"You want four more years of what? Of adding deficit and debts for the children of our country," Kerry told the Republicans in the crowd. He promised relief for the middle class and to restore the US image abroad.

"We can do better than we are doing today in this country," he told his cheering supporters.

"I will never send a man to fight without a plan to win the peace," he said referring to Iraq. He called on his supporters to spread the Democratic word around the country.

The shouting match, which lasted about 15 minutes before the Kerry train pulled out of the station, is an unusual ocurrence at campaign rallies where supporters and opponents of the candidates usually stand nonchalantly shoulder to shoulder with no outbursts.

"If Laura Bush were here I would say hello politely to her, and I'd expect all the Democrats to do that, too," Kerry's wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, said at the microphone over the jeers of the pro-Bush group.

"We have our opinions but we respect the others. So enjoy your democracy, a lot of people in this world have no right to vote," she added.

Bush and Kerry are still neck-and-neck in opinion polls. Missouri and its electoral college votes in the 2000 elections went to Bush, who got 50 percent of the state's popular vote compared with then vice president Al Gore's 47 percent.

Yeah, like that would happen.

"...a lot of people in this world have no right to vote" Heinz-Kerry

I wonder if she is talking about Iraq under clinton?

Sounds like whistles are the thing to have at these stops. I urge all to buy them and distribute them at the rallies.

"FLUSH THE JOHNS" seems to be the catch phrase for signs.

"I will never send a man to fight without a plan to win the peace," he said referring to Iraq.

I found this last night, which shows just how far John Kerry has come in his thinking:

Kerry, given the honor of delivering the Class Day oration his senior year, tore up his original speech after it had been published in an official campus journal and delivered one with a sharply skeptical political tone. He criticized the Johnson administration for a military venture that did not advance the nation's vital interests and that effectively isolated the United States from the international community.

Interacting with the little people got Teresa's nerves rattled.

Bet she can't wait until sKerry loses so she can go back and get pampered at one of her five mansions.

"[A] lot of people in this world have no right to vote," she added.

Oh that's rich -- President Bush is bringing the right to vote to tens of millions of people in the Middle East. And he gets trashed every day for the good he's trying to do. Kerry and his supporters are the ones who doesn't care about whether others have a right to vote.

What is with the dems being "polite" lately. First, Kerry says at that journalist meeting yesterday that he would have politely told the children that the president had something to attend to and Ter-AY-za is talking about being polite to Laura Bush.
Polite is the last thing the dems are.

We've witnessed the RATS idea of politeness at the Wellstone funeral. Thanks, but no thanks.

So you reserve "Shove it" for the little people, Theresa?

"I will never send a man to fight without a plan to win the peace,"

Hello, ergo he will never send a man to fight. The US will once again be cowering in a corner.

Wake Up America! How many more 9/11's do you want?

Terezzzzzzzzzzza, "Saying so, doesn't make it so!" You are not a polite woman, much less, a lady.

A lot more people will be able to vote this year, thanks to our president's leadership. Now, go brush your hair.
