This is pretty limp for Joe Conason. The truth is hurting.
Conason is such a twerp.
Bush has already been kicked in the balls for his time in the NG.
Kerry only served four months-- got dubious Purple Hearts and bugged out early. That should interest Conason.
Kerry lied to get his medals, wiggled out of serving a full tour, tossed his medals, slandered his fellow vets and now he is running on the glory of his 4 months in Nam. Sorry, Joe, but the state of Texas doesn't have the amount of cow sh*t that the Kerry campaign has.
Yes, let's measure and see if the Swift Boat Veterans' accusations seem contrary to the character of the John Kerry we know. The one who throws fake medals over the wall, and saves the real ones for display. The one who uses botox. The one who marries into money and pretends to be a commoner.
Seems as though the assessments of the Swift Boat Veterans jibe very well with the Kerry we know.
Check it out! We're extremists now!
"My name is Steve Gardner. I served in 1966 and 1967 on my first tour of duty in Vietnam on Swift boats, and I did my second tour in '68 and '69, involved with John Kerry in the last 2 1/2 months of my tour. The John Kerry that I know is not the John Kerry that everybody else is portraying. I served alongside him and behind him, five feet away from him in a gun tub, and watched as he made indecisive moves with our boat, put our boats in jeopardy, put our crews in jeopardy... if a man like that can't handle that 6-man crew boat, how can you expect him to be our Commander-in-Chief?"
-- Steven Gardner
The above quote was from a press conference given at the National Press Club in Washington on May 4, 2004. You may view Stevens comments at the following web site. Just scroll down to Stevens picture and click on it.

Searching through that web site, you will find 250 men who served on Swift boats, including the entire chain of command above Lt. Kerry, agree with Steven Gardner that Kerry is not fit to be Commander-in-Chief. That compares to the 13 crew members who support his candidacy.
Are you kiddin' me? FOTFL!
"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!" - Barry Goldwater
EXTREME? HUH? LOL.......THEY have NOT seen EXTREME yet....not from me.....but, if we lose this election, I MAY go EXTREME!!!! I'm just an angry white woman right now. They do NOT want to see me as an EXTREME angry white woman.
Golly gee whiz!
I'm an EXTREMIST!
That's cool. Do we get tee shirts or baseball caps or somethin like that now? I don't want to wear ribbons though. I hate that. Does this mean I have to stop taking showers?
Well, to get into the mood of being an extremist, I will now:
- refer to my half acre suburban Connecticut lot as "the compound"
- my four bedroom Colonial home will now be "the facilities"
- my wife and five kids will now be known as "the members"
- my 1995 Ford Escort will be know as "the vehicle"
um, carry on men! Right on! um, Whip it good! (darn it all, that didn't really sound extreme, did it? Well, I'm new at this, I'll do better).
*thinking*
Bingo!
We're fierce!
We're FReepers!
And we're in your face!
As I posted on an earlier thread;
No matter what you think about swiftvets (truth or right-wing hit job), you just can't avoid the fact that John Kerry made this bed with his own hands. Months ago he PERSONALLY joined the chorus of "Bush hasn't proven he wasn't AWOL" crap. And with the convention, he made Vietnam THE centerpiece of his campaign. So, per Kerry himself, Vietnam is EVERYTHING, and we should review records and nitpick like hell. So here we are.
SHOVE IT!
Regards, Ivan
Conason has it completely backwards, of course. It is Kerry who constantly speaks of Vietnam.
Joe states "drawing FRESH attention to Vietnam" as if this group comes on the scene and resurrects a long dead subject. That is absurd when we just watched the demcon mention it constantly as Kerry's apparently one and only qualification to be President of the United States and it has been the main plank in his entire campaign.
It is Kerry that tries to deflect questions about his senatorial record by claiming being called to account for his votes is "questioning his patriotism" and tries to tie any questions about his record as the questioner denigrating his Vietnam service.
Harping on the "Republicans" and throwing around words like "extremist" (little old normal and average me as a member of FR?! LOL) is ridiculous.
Apparently, for some reason it is of utmost importance in this country for the GOP to just lie down and let the John Kerry/Edwards team walk all over us and let their partisan hacks like Michael Moore and Hollyweird and entertainment extremests have free reign to vommit their accusations all over the airwaves and saturate this country through the media with their diatribe without ANY response whatsoever.
Yup,....Makes sense to me.
"as drawing fresh attention to Vietnam does not flatter the candidate who avoided service there."
God damn it... Mr Bush DID NOT AVOID SERVICE IN VIETNAM!!! HE VOLUNTEERED FOR DUTY THERE BUT WAS NOT SELECTED TO GO BECAUSE HIS LOW FLIGHT TIME WAS IN A TYPE OF AIRCRAFT THAT WAS NOT USED IN NAM! PERIOD!!!
