Gore won Michigan in 2000 52%-47%. Bush beat Gore or lost by less than 2% in every county in Michigan except Wayne. Gore won Wayne county 69%-29%. Wayne county includes the city of Detroit, and accounts for 18% of the total votes cast in Michigan.

Bottom line: Send Bush to Detroit!

Looks like a 31% Rep. 39% Dem 28% Ind. likely voter sample Is that an accurate breakdown for Michigan? Seems high on the democRats IMHO.

No this isn't that high for DEM breakdown - Maybe 37.5% Dem would have been a little more accurate -

But the fact is PA and MI have been trending Kerry big time over the past 6 weeks (I've been saying that for weeks on here) -

This is what happens when you get out-run on ads 4 to 1 from 5pm to 10pm nightly!! - An office rep of ours that lives in PA has been telling me the same thing - Ads are 3 to 1 for Kerry in PA -

DEM 527's are coming home to roost - in these two battle-ground States - (though, in the end we don't need either anyway....though if Kerry gets up to big in either of these...that means trouble for us.....in that Kerry can put more money in FL,MO,WV, etc).

That's pretty funny... especially coming from Ar-Kansas. Has Blue had the opportunity to kick the Hawgs a$$?

Dunno, but at least 51% of us weren't dumb enough to vote for Albert Gore last time and poll 52% for Kerry this time. I'd rather be Hog red than Kerry blue.

I'm ashamed that my state is so chock full of complete and utter morons.

It's not just your state but the country, nay, the world.

Kerry (D) 52% + Bush (R) 41% = Major BS And here's the reason why - GB is spending time and money in MI because the internal polls are showing that either Kerry the Poodle is behind or GB is within the margin of error. Remember, published polls are done by big city democrats for big city democrat newspapers.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about - I was on the GWB 2000 MI team and I am a "team leader" this year also in MI - (but say all you want about "internals" I was told by a lead GWB offical the night before the election in 2000 that the latest GWB interals showed GWB up by 6pts! in MI and we would WIN MI for sure) -

Obviously the following night...I knew what to think of "MI internals" -

The fact is MI is a lean Kerry State - Plain and simple - MI has trended DEM big time over the last 10 years - Teachers Union (is huge!), Auto-Workers (huge), Trial-Lawyers (huge group in MI and hate GWB), African American vote in Detroit (carries the State for the DEM's alone) -

This poll is not good news - We are less then 90 days out -

...which is all true, but I think the third (unasked) question was "If the presidential election were held today, who would you vote for?" I was never asked the question because it was obvious what my answer would have been. The poll I took was being intentionally skewed. Why else wouldn't the pollster ask the question? I was on the phone, I didn't hurry him in any way.

OK, Ok. If your state goes good on this election we'll consider your repentance for Clinton to be complete. ;)

I see the usual troll is out. Maybe we should just anoint Kerry king for life and be done with it. Might as well based on how certain people here are talking all the freaking time.

"So many people don't answer their phone anymore...how could you get a decent poll even if you wanted to?"

That is what I would like to know. We never answer our phone unless we recognize the caller on caller ID and actually want to talk to them. At work we are supposed to call patients scheduled for surgery with pre-op instructions and almost nobody answers the phone. So I don't understand how these polls can be in any way accurate.

Seems like SurveyUSA has laid a couple of eggs lately. Several of their polls have not lined up with other ones done at roughly the same time.

They use the "centain" voter method. It good in low turn out races in primanys but I think for General is a crock. By the Marriage thing made the ballot for Nov? They trying like hell to keep it off in Ohio.

We aren't all Muslims in MI. Specially those of us who live 550 miles from Detroit ;-)

Isn't Michigan Dem anyway?

This is less close than I expected though.

POA2...just gotta love your style! One hint of negatism and dire polling and you're on it like Tokyo Rose. The cutesy "chicken-little" gig just prompts me to send more dough to B/C '04, and, today, the Swift Boat Patriots.

Don't be discouraged, this is one poll in one state that doesn't matter for re-election (if Michigan goes Republican, it will be a landslide anyway).

The Dems have thrown EVERYTHING at us (Michael Moore's movie, the 527 ads, the Democrat convention, the VP nomination) and they had the spotlight for all this time with their own nomination process.

And still, it's an even race (some polls show Bush ahead) after Kerry's bungled convention, when he should be polling 10% ahead to be insulated from the coming Bush bounce.

Now, we have the advantage. We get OUR convention. We don't have to take federal money until then, so we can spend what's been raised prior while Kerry has to sit on his hands and have his 527s try to cover. And now the power of incumbancy will be in full force (GWB can set the debate, Kerry just has to respond). There were two states Bush had to win to win this election - and he's pulling away in Ohio, and tied up in Florida.

We all get up and down, but this is going to be a re-elect. Cheers!
