Berger still under investigation

Washington, DC, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- The investigation of former national security adviser Sandy Berger's use of classified material "is ongoing and continuing," a U.S. official said Thursday.

The Justice Department does not acknowledge that Berger is a target of an investigation, but the source told United Press International a report saying Berger has been "cleared" is untrue.

Maybe they're investigating the depth of what he did--maybe it goes farther than we know. (It wouldn't surprise me.)

"Who is Sandy Berger?"

If he was forced to wear Hillary's parachute panties over his head you would be fed color footage 24 x 7 via the LSM. Jail time, if any, will be minimal.

And when a Democratic presidential candidate lies he also skates.

It's Friday. I need a break from the ongoing stupification of the electorate. Over and out!

Give the man a cigar!

The issue is what did he do with these highly classified documents... Anyone who has had anything to do with Sandy since November may be compromised as well as any conversation... Sorry about that but when you steal national secrets you get special treatment by the counterspy community. And if the conversations lead to other areas of wrong doing by anyone in contact with Berger that's too bad. Follow the leads wherever they go...

Freeper Adam_Az picked this off on another thread concerning Kerry. I'm posting it here because I wonder if this Tom Blanton is the executive director of the National Security Archive, where Sandy Berger liked to go shoplifting, and if perhaps Blanton is associated with Kerry in other ways.

1985 : (CONGRESSMEN KERRY & HARKIN TRAVEL TO NICARAGUA) To: LibWhacker HOLY CRAP!!!!! IT IS REAL!!!!!! It's in a Boston Globe article!!!
http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/kerry/062003.shtml
Indymedia is PROUD OF IT!!!!!!! http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2004/01/279420.shtml
Kerry's audacity cost him. Within weeks of taking office in 1985, he was off to Nicaragua, accompanied by reporters on a 36-hour, self-appointed fact-finding mission with another freshman, Democratic Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa.
Congressional Democrats had accused the White House of exaggerating the communist threat posed by the Sandinista regime. So the two senators were publicly castigated when -- just days after meeting with Daniel Ortega and other leaders of the regime -- the Sandinistas climbed aboard a plane to Moscow to cement their Soviet ties.
Secretary of State George Shultz declared that Kerry and Harkin had been "used" by the Nicaraguans, and he ridiculed them for their naivete in "dealing with the communists."
Kerry was called "silly" in the Boston press.
...`In early 1986, people like North were deathly afraid of what Kerry was after," says Tom Blanton, the executive director of the National Security Archive, a research organization in Washington. "There was this pervasive sense of the potential of turning over too many rocks. Worms and insects kept crawling out."

Nice find. The National Security Archive is also linked to Peter Kornbluh, Kerry's associate from the Institute for Policy Studies. They've edited a number of declassified documents related to US Latin American policy re: Cuban Missile Crisis, Pinochet, Sandinistas, etc. See for instance:

Chile Documentation Project: Peter Kornbluh, Director

It was also Kornbluh who arranged Kerry's trip to meet Ortega in 1984. IMO the upshot of this is, if Berger was in contact with these people, any documents he had could've been transmitted straight to Fidel Castro.

The actual procedure is to have an initial inquiry to determine if a violation occurred and if there was a compromise. That has about a 30 day limit. If the inquiry determines a compromise happenned, then it is turned over for Investigation to determine the extent of the compromise, the damage incurred, and the extent of the criminality

The inquiry is administrative in nature and time limited, the Investigation is criminal and is not time limited because it can go from the intital violator to others

.......a US official said the investigation is not just about whether anything is missing......

I'll continue to maintain that Pantload Berger could be charged with crimes other than the obvious.

If Berger under intense scrutiny would have the gall to pilfer top secret documents from the Ntl Archives, only God knows what he did with America's secrets in the anything-goes Clinton WH.

We will probably never find out the exact nature of the damage Berger did to US national security under Clinton in the runup to the 9/11 bombings.

Do not ever forget that Berger's WH job was to advise the president on how to keep America safe.

Watta laugh.

Pantload Berger's a joke. I guess that makes him top-drawer material as Secy of State in a Kerry admin.

This is just one of the many stories being shoved under the rug by the media right now. Its unbelieveable the amount of cover up by the fourth estate when it comes to democrat scandals. The other big one is Kerry' service in Vietnam and how much of it might be made up.

I know! Thankfully, alternate media (such as the internet), is being read more and more everyday.

I saw a poll the other day that said something like 67% of Americans now use the net as a primary news source.

It one of the reasons the Swift Boat Vets have gotten so much coverage in SPITE of the mainstream media.

(but it *still* doesn't keep me from being highly hacked off at the double standard between us pee-ons and the self-appointed 'elite'.
