John Kerry speaks Thursday to the Unity 2004 conference of minority journalists in Washington.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said Thursday he would have handled news of the al Qaeda attacks on New York and the Pentagon differently than President Bush did. "I would have excused myself from the classroom quickly," said Kerry.

John Kerry would have been on the phone to Jacques Chirac, post haste, then Kofi Anan, to get his marching orders.
Kerry is a Frenchman.
Bush was perfect in his seven minute, stillness. . .
Kerry totally misunderstands power. . .'genuine, authentic power'.
That Kerry would feel the need to USE it; SHOW it. . .at that moment; shows only the weakness and ignorance of John Kerry.
That said, we have blamed everyone for our 9/11 disaster; except the voters. . .they had better smarten up before our next one.
Would have, could have, should have. Blahblahblah
I listened to this story on network radio news coming home from work - the kind of station the sheeple would listen to. the story does not play well for Kerry, really makes him look petty in light of the fact that Bush was reading to schoolchildren.
Hold on a sec! Wasn't it the Democrats with their friends in the big media like Peter Jennings who suggested that Bush should have defiantly and without regard to his own safety stayed in front of the cameras to assure the American people that our leader was confident and steady in a crisis. Yet now that Moore's propaganda piece has been shoved down our collective throats even if we never saw it, Kerry is so bereft of constructive ideas and intellectually bankrupt he is trying to sell a political tie-in of his weak campaign to Farenheit/911 and its "seven minutes." At the same time he tries to claim that he wants to stay on the high road and implies that he rejects negativism and the extremism of Moore. What a hypocrite.
I agree completely. President Bush managed to keep his cool and prevent the schoolchildren from being traumatized. I say he's a great man.
.LOL on the [araticulars. . .Kerry had better shut up and give it up. . .
. . .bumpworthy. . .
Kerry is right, he would have reacted differently than Bush. He would have sat there unable to even "think" for 40 minutes.... per his own words to Larry King about his reaction to seeing we were under attack 9/11.
The second plane hit at 9:03, the Pentagon was hit at 9:43.

KERRY: "I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting -- we'd just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon. And then word came from the White House, they were evacuating, and we were to evacuate, and so we immediately began the evacuation."
As an "add-on",I saw the recent interview with Dick & Lynn
Cheney concerning what was happening to them durring the 9-11 attack. If any Freeper could get the interview posted here,it explains A LOT !!!(IIRC...it was on FOX).
IIRC,Cheney and his wife were AT THE WHITE HOUSE.In order to
assure "chain-of-command",they were "hurried" to the bunker to make sure that he was safe, and in a position to "take control" if the situation warranted it. This was done as a secure line was set up with POTUS, and Rice.At that time,it was decided that Bush was to stay AWAY from the White House, until the situation could be better examined to decide
on what future actions would be needed and required.
The interview with Cheney was very descriptive, and until they made sure that HE was safe and able to command if needed,Bush was unable to do anything until THAT was done FIRST.
Geez....the prez and vp are almost NEVER in the same room because of the danger of one "incident" possibly taking out
BOTH of them AT ONCE.
Exactly!
Exactly!!
Did he really say that? If so, that's a crock, because he wouldn't have had the stones to go into Afghanistan or Iraq in the first place!!
I'am laughing so hard, I need depends!!!
It would be the manliest sporting thing he's done so far.
:-)
GWB will address the same forum on Friday, I note. I wish I knew of a way to get this message to the President. Suggestion: I heard that my opponent made a claim when he spoke to you yesterday. From his appearance on Larry King Live, he stated (insert facts about tv, 40 minutes passing in non-thought). Perhaps I passed 5-7 minutes in thought, perhaps it was a period of not being able to think for me, also. I imagine many Americans had the same reaction. In my defense, I can state with confidence that I did not spend 40 minutes incapable of thought. Or words to that effect. Make a joke of it, perhaps. The message being, "Anything my opponent says is a joke".

Not so. Another Kerry lie.By his own statement that I read here at FR tonight Kerry and others were unable to think at all for about 45 minutes.
