John Kerry speaks Thursday to the Unity 2004 conference of minority journalists in Washington.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said Thursday he would have handled news of the al Qaeda attacks on New York and the Pentagon differently than President Bush did. "I would have excused myself from the classroom quickly," said Kerry.

Very plausible.

Unofficial-official response from BC - '04.

This is the second time that Senator John (F*&$ing) Kerry has questioned the actions of George W. Bush in a war-time scenario. The first was his partisan and public questioning, on Nov 6th 2000, of the honorability of the President's National Guard service (Source: Boston Globe 11-6-2000), and now this straw-reaching slander regarding the President's actions the morning of Sept. 11th.

It appears that Senator Kerry wishes to make heroism in the face of attack an issue. If it is now an open topic of discussion, why is he trying to quell the 1st Amendment rights of the sailors who served with him, the commanders he served under, and all the brave veterans he slandered upon his return to CONUS? The President is willing to let by-gones be by-gones, but he will not stand by for this kind of unscrupulous and baseless personal attack on his character. The future tone of this campaign is now squarely in the hands of the Kerry campaign.

- End of Statement -

Now, Helen, 1st question...

I wish I could find a reporter's timeline I read months ago. It said Bush was informed of the second plane and that they were setting up a secure line, that was what he was waiting for! The line was setup at the school and the story was about reporters trying to get close to hear the conversation. I was impressed they had communications ready so fast. It's not a situation you'd use a cell phone!

I'm impressed he stayed cool and collected. Was he suppose to flop around like a kid that can't wait? He knew there were cameras there, events were alarming enough, he did a wonderful job.

funny.

Seems like the kind of president in that movie "dead zone" I believe where the politician holds up a baby to defend himself.

You know, I am really getting a little weary of all this out of the Kerry camp. Regarding 9/11, Afghanistan, and Iraq, Bush was either too fast or too slow, too tentative or too certain, too brave or too afraid, spent too much or not enough... I think it is a shame that the media has not challenged him specifically to say what he would do differently. "I would build a coalition." BS, Bush attempted to get support for Europe and they let him down. Kerry would do better? Why should we believe that.

"I would have continued inspections." Again, Bush continued inspections and insisted on inspections, except Saddam was not letting the inspectors enter facilities.

The whole thing is so disingenuous. Kerry is simply saying that anything that wasn't perfect will be done perfectly. Anyone who buys that Monday morning quarterbacking is too stupid to punch the right hole on a butterfly ballot.

Whew! I feel better now.

The President was doing exactly what he said he was doing, projecting calm, and showing grace under fire... while knowing that the orders he had just given to his Chief of Staff, were being faithfully carried out!

He also knew that Air Force One was refueling, and if I remember correctly, he had an 18-minute window before he could have taken off. Brit Hume covered all this, if you had only watched Fox.

Michael Moore is a traitor, liar, and I love the abyss that he is dragging kerry into!!!

I noticed that he always has a bulbous booty as well. I thought that I was the only one who thought that he wore Depends.

But to be fair, he could be sporting a pair of Serenity.

I cant imagine its possible to loathe another human being as much as skerry!

Dont know if this has been posted, found it on the bulliten board at work, thought Id share.

Interesting facts:

There were 39 related killings in Iraq during the month of January
In the fair city of detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. Thats just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn coutnry or Iraq.

Some claim the President shouldnt have started this war...Read on....

FDR led us to world war 2. Germany never attacked us, Japan did. From 1941-45 450,000 lives were lost-an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in korea, north korea never attacked us. From 1950-53 55,000 lives were lost-an average of 18.334 per year.

John F Kennedy started the vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson t urned vietnam in to a quagmire. from 1965-75, 58,000 lives were lost-an average of 5800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or FRench consent, Bosnia never attacked us. Clinton was offered Osama bin ladens head on a platter 3 times by sudan and did nothing. osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the two years since the terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the taliban, crippled al-qaida, put nuclear inspectors in libya, iran and north korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own ppl.

The demoncrats are complaining about "how long this war is taking" but....

it took less time to take iraq than it took janet reno to take the branch davidian compound! that was a 51 day operation.

weve been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in iraq for less time than it took hillary clinton to find the rose law firm billing records.

it took less time for the 3rd infantry division and the marines to destroy the medina republican guard than it took ted kennedy to call the police after his ods sank at chappaquiddick.

it took less time to take iraq than it took to county thevotes in florida!!!!

our Commander-In-Chief is doing a great job! the military moral is high!

Well, the guy's a weasel.

This kind of thing won't help him. Attacking the other guy personally just makes the attacker look smaller. Kerry doesn't realize that Bush is well regarded as a human being in the country at large. Of course, when everyone around you loathes Bush, you end up in an echo chamber.

Bush, otoh, hasn't breathed a word about Kerry's service record. This will redound to Bush's benefit.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Well, I suppose instead of waiting until his security detail had worked out their plan to get him going safely (as you said, no one knew what was going on, if he was in danger etc...) - and they took a whole seven minutes to do so.

I suppose it would have been better if he had just jumped up, knocked his chair over and ran out of the room bowling children over left and right, and scaring the crap out of them...???

By Kerry's own words, he and his fellow senators sat there for forty minutes, realizing 'nobody could think.'" --After seeing the 2nd plane hit.

No, Kerry would (like Gore) have hid out at Offut AFB for a few months, until the UN sent in some reinforcements.
