Millions in the third world die from malaria every year in large part because of a virtual ban on the controversial insecticide DDT.
The removal of the unwarranted stigma from DDT and the saving of many future lives is now nearer at hand than it has been in the last 30 years thanks to the efforts of Dr. J. Gordon Edwards, who passed away on July 19 at the age of 85.

The testimony of Dr. Edwards and others during Environmental Protection Agency hearings in 1971 on whether to ban the insecticide led to an EPA administrative law judge ruling that, "DDT is not a carcinogenic hazard to man. DDT is not a mutagenic or teratogenic hazard to man. The uses of DDT under the regulations involved here do not have a deleterious effect on freshwater fish, estuarine organisms, wild birds or other wildlife."
That'll teach him.
Was the cause of death malaria?
Rachel Carson is the biggest mass murderer of all time. Her book, which was directly responsible for the DDT ban, has killed more people than all the dictators of the 20th century combined.
Has the mass-murderer Ruckelshaus shuffled off his mortal coils yet after making out like a bandit in a not-too-subtle quid pro quo from the environmental movement for unilaterally, and against scientific advice, banning DDT?
Not to mention one of the biggest liars of all time. The Silent Spring was probably the biggest load of crap ever written.
LOL, my first thought too. I guess great minds think alike.
Regards.
He has the blood of millions on his hands. A pity he got to live to an old age.
A good book debunking Al Gore's "Earth in the Balance" and "Silent Spring" is "Of Mosquitoes and Man." It shows that the malarial rates have gone through the roof since the banning of DDT.
This brings up a point - how could DDT become "unbanned"? If so much evidence points to a big lie in the banning of it, what could be done to lift be ban?
Sure could use that product around here in Rice Country - the mosquitoes are hell!
I would start by simply ignoring it. Set up a DDT factory somewhere where the government authorities can be easily bought off, and sell it on the black market.
The person this article refers to (and apparently the malaria commment) fought against the ddt ban. There is no blood on his hands.
DDT is still made in india, I believe. It is used in africa, but any anti-malaria efforts that the us sponsors there can not include ddt.
Seriously speaking, I am sure you are right. I shudder to think where he is now?
Oops, I think it was a double negative.
And Al Gore's choice for most-inspiring book he has ever read, in answer to Jim Lehrer's debate question.
Bush answered "the Bible", enraging the Left.

Look who's promoting the latest printing of her book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
