KCBS/CBS-5 - A San Francisco man running for political office has become the victim of a hate crime.
Someone defaced about 50 campaign posters belonging to David Heller in San Francisco's Richmond District.
"I couldn't believe it. I mean, I couldn't handle it," said Heller. "The next day, I just broke. I just cried. The whole day, I couldn't handle it."
Heller, who is Jewish and owns a beauty shop, is running for a seat on the Board of Supervisors.
He told CBS-5 he lost all of his relatives on his father's side to the Nazis during World War Two.
Heller is using the colors of the Israeli flag for his posters. The Anti-Defamation League says references to Israel can often set off anti-Semitic attacks.
Even Heller's opponents in the supervisor's race were shocked by the defamation. They stood hand-in-hand with him on Wednesday, in a show of solidarity.
Sounds like just the kind of emotionally stable individual San Francisco needs more of on their City Council...
Time will tell. However, I suspect there are enough French/Euro wannabes in SF to pull this off.
Here's the guy you want with his hands firmly on the reins of the government.
on the one hand: it is nice to see something besides a crime against blacks, "hispanics", muslims, or homosexuals called a "hate crime"
on the other hand: boy, this guy has a jellyspine.
The left has many antisemites among their ranks (they may shout "peace" but they are pro Palestinian war).
"...you can smoke the baloney pony, but not a marboral"
He told CBS-5 he lost all of his relatives on his father's side to the Nazis during World War Two.
Maybe this defamation was a catalyst. Maybe he was crying for all the dead in his family. For the first time.
An article yesterday said swattikas.
I'm as pro-Israel and pro-Jewish as they come, but this is yet another example of just how ludicrous "hate crime" legislation is, and what a slippery slope we've mounted. They were POSTERS, for crying out loud. I do so wish people in this country would just grow up.
