Is the Bush camp using the swift boat vets as political campaign scapegoat to say the President is against negative campaign ads and will not question Kerry's service? Wonder what those swift boat vets are feeling right now.
Basically, yes. Bush probably feels, correctly, that any question about Kerry's Vietnam record coming from him (Bush) would mostly earn just a "so says the guy who didn't serve in Vietnam at all" response. But the actual veterans can legitimately question Kerry's Vietnam record. So Bush just stands aside and lets them, while making it clear that they're an independent group who isn't doing it on *behalf* of Bush.
Wonder what those swift boat vets are feeling right now.
