200 trade leaders back Kerry's bid [president/COO of NewsCorp, parent of FOX ]

Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry picked up endorsements from some 200 business leaders as he sought to boost his standing on economic issues.

Kerry unveiled the list during a campaign swing through Iowa, where he was holding an "economic summit" with business and labor leaders.

Among the executives with Kerry in Davenport were Peter Chernin, president and chief operating officer of NewsCorp [parent company of FOX News] ; Charles Gifford, chairman of Bank of America; and Charles Phillips, president of Oracle.

"The Kerry-Edwards plan for America is exactly what is needed to jumpstart businesses and get America working again," Chernin said in a statement released by the Kerry campaign.

"It will lower healthcare costs and cut taxes on corporations and small businesses to strengthen our economy today and invest in education, science and innovation to help us stay competitive in the economy of tomorrow."

Others included Warner Music chief executive Edgar Bronfman; Kirk Kerkorian, whose Tracinda controls MGM studios; Yahoo chief operating officer Daniel Rosensweig; Google CEO Eric Schmidt; Michael Lynton, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment; and Henry Schacht, ex-chairman at Lucent Technologies.

Some predictable names were on the list, including Robert Rubin, a Citigroup executive and former treasury secretary for president Bill Clinton, and Harvey and Robert Weinstein, co-chairs of Miramax who personally backed the US released of Michael Moore's controversial documentary Fahrenheit 911.

The Wall Street Journal said that one of the Kerry backers, David Bonderman, founder and managing partner of investment firm Texas Pacific Group, supported George W Bush for president in 2000

I don't see any indication that the guy is involved in any editorial decisions. As a Chief Operating Officer, he would make business decisions, not editorial decisions. If you really want to see liberal bias, switch to the other cable news networks such as CNN.

Anyone else notice how the left keeps forming these groups of people to come out and endorse Kerry?

They'll find a small group of people (who very few people have ever heard of before) with something in common who support Kerry, and publicize it to try to suggest that a certain demographic is mostly in favor of Kerry (not to mention a way to get favorable words for Kerry in the news).

Guess these guys don't like the administration's idea of SEC oversight. They like Clinton's "no rules" policy better.

Heck, if the "War Party" Democratic Convention Plank were taken at face value...
the industrialists and military arms manufacturers of Nazi Germany would endorse Kerry!

Why is Kerry's 200 more relevant than any 200 random people that I might pick up off the street.

Lets hold the election today among trade leaders only or Flag Officers (Colonel or above) only.

I like Bush's chances under those conditions.

Excuse me, but what exactly IS the Kerry/Edwards program? They actually haven't announced anything but platitudes yet and some idiot from News Corp has already endorsed it? Fox News had three hippy libs on who were part of this '200' business leaders and not one of them could actually name anything they were supporting about Kerry. It was all about hating Bush and some theoretical crap about lower healthcare prices and smaller deficits. Nobody, including John F'ng Kerry, knows that the Kerry/Edwards plan/program is. Its not on their website and it wasn't in his speech. Where do these people find it?

actually, it seemed that their biggest argument was a fresh start with the euros

my theory is that if the euros see that americans won't change our president to suit them, self interest will bring them around instead of the tail wagging the dog

Back Kerry and their reason given - their 'bottom line' - is their financial success.

Know more than one of those 'leaders' who are endorsing Kerry - will not be voting for him; and suspect there are more.

This is the saddest thing about being a Liberal or a Democrat today. These people are both the chicken and the egg of the lies and the hypocrisy of this Party.

I pray we can rise above them all.

Excuse me, but what exactly IS the Kerry/Edwards program?

Confiscatory taxes and the shipping US foreign policy decision making and the war on terror offshore.
