Life should be fun. It should be satisfying and exciting. As much as possible one should do what one's heart dictates, as long as it is constructive and helpful. (If it is not, one should take one's heart to a minister, rabbi or therapist, and get one's heart in order.)
In this spirit, a slight swerve is announced here.

In the past four years I have written about and given advice to both parties in this column. But a week ago, while watching the Democratic convention, I made a decision.
I am going to take three months' unpaid leave from The Wall Street Journal and attempt to support the Republican Party in the coming and crucial election. (Every four years everyone says "this is the most important election of my lifetime," but this year I believe it is true.) I'm going to give whatever advice and encouragement I have in terms of strategy, approach, message--I hate that word--and issues. No one has asked me to do this, and I do it as a volunteer, not for a salary but simply to give my time to help what I think is the more helpful side. This will take a bite out of my finances but I can do it. Actually most of us, when we die, wind up with a few thousand dollars in the bank. We should have spent it! I am going to spend mine now.

Peggy rocks! I will miss her column.
God Bless You, and may the Bush-man win
Wow...talk about putting money where your mouth is...
I'd love to see her take over speech writing for President Bush because she is the most talented, persuasive writer in the business. No matter in what capacity she serves, she will be a tremendous asset.
I just traded Noonan books with my friend, Jill. She had WHEN CHARACTER WAS KING and I had THE CASE AGAINST HILLARY CLINTON. So we traded Peggy Noonan books. Jill said "Peggy sure has a way with WORDS!" I just love her. Peggy is so feminine and smart. She is the kind of woman I WISH I could be. I just adore her. Glad she is on OUR side!
Peggy's a patriot, and she's right. This war for our very existence. That rainy day is here. All hands at the helm, and let's pray that the feds and the NYC cops round up the terrorists way before they act.
Welcome back to the fight Peggy.
Ah yes her book about Reagan was definitely the best in my opinion. She is a highly intellignt classy lady.
I hope she stomps the hell out of Chris Matthews...he DESTROYED her one night, very UNFAAAIRLY, I might add. He is such a nancy boy, I hope she mops the floor with him. Go Peggy!!!!
Go get 'em, Peggy. We'll miss your work at the WSJ, but we'll hopefully get to see it on the campaign trail.
I was just thinking, how does Peggy Noonan combine her high intellect with her extreme femininity? She never comes across as a hateful bossy woman. She always comes across as a gracious smart feminine woman. HOW does she do that? She is my idol. But Laura Bush is, too!
We may need Peggy if Hillary comes
out from under her rock.
God Speed
Great Idea!!!!
Thank you Peggy!
We cannot all afford to take a leave but we must afford to take her lead. The President needs our time and our voices.
Reagan I and II were the most important election of our lifetime. Last election was probable next and this one is fourth.
Laura Bush has disappointed me, as did President
Bush's mother, on the sanctity of life.
Nonetheless, Laura is phenomenal with the media!
She comes across as completely kind and gracious.
Quite a contrast to the Dem - No more hangers -
crowd!!
