I am aware. At least one person I know and admire disagrees with me. Fair enough. But there is only one right answer. However, I can assure you that I was in position to see the audience, and 75-85% of the audience was on their feet, cheering wildly at Keyes' comments. If you read the transcript, you'll see where Keyes mentions the outpouring of support and affection he was being given. Here's a paraphrase: "You see, I can do this all day...draw your applause and so forth, but what does it all matter if after you leave here you keep putting people in office who do not stand up for the things for which you believe and applaud?"
Terrific speech to a solidly-Bush supporting audience. On a side note, though, if these debates are not being attended by tens of thousands of people, he may want to bring down the tone a notch for the cameras. This is a very inexperienced person talking, but many people who see him on TV say he looks angry, and having met him in person, he is one of the most likeable people I have ever had the opportunity to meet.
