Investigators suspect terrorist moles worked at the Citigroup and Prudential buildings to case the skyscrapers as potential targets of car or truck bombs, The Post has learned.
And now federal agents want to comb through employee records of the businesses that operate in the buildings to try to identify the moles, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
The feds suspect that the extraordinarily detailed information about the skyscrapers which was discovered on an al Qaeda computer in Pakistan was compiled by accomplices who had time to study Citigroup's 59-story building at Lexington Avenue and 53rd Street and Prudential's building in Newark from the inside, the sources said.
Officials who examined the information concluded that the most recent surveillance of the buildings was done in January. There was additional surveillance last year, a law-enforcement source said.

Now now, folks, don't jump to conclusions... I'm sure all those moles were properly vetted by the HR departments' Diversity Specialists...
This is a well-researched book which covers the period from the first World Trade Center bomb plot through the terrorists' success at bringing the Towers down on 9/11. They had a mole in the NY Fire Department, a civilian employee who had access to the blueprints of every building in NY. Hint: the mole was not a blond, blue-eyed Norwegian.
Blast! I knew we should have been watching out for those red-headed Irishmen.
How long before common sense overcomes political correctness? No need to answer ...
To make it all the worse the guy who obtained the plans worshipped at the same "mosque",(read this as terrorist HQ), as Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman and acted as Rahman's guide/driver.
Ah, the good ol' FBI.
I don't know about that one, but I would suspect that at least some of their moles are Black Muslims. There seem to be a large number of Black Muslims who work at NYC bridges and tunnels, as well as a number in the Post Office and other services that would give them access to a wealth of information.
I read that a few weeks ago. The good ol' FBI, Famous But Incompetent.
Gee !
Who would have thought such a thing ??
This should be no surprise. Read Peter Lance's "1000 Years for Revenge," and you'll see that in 1993, the WTC bombers had a guy inside the MAINTENANCE department of the WTC who had access to the BLUEPRINTS. In fact, the FDNY (who was investigating potential terror targets) was alerted to this guy, interviewed him, gave his name to the FBI, and the FBI "cleared" him saying they could find he had done nothing wrong, even though he had stolen ("borrowed?") blueprints!
This might be the precedent that encouraged Sandy Berger ;-)
It was extremely convoluted, and the informant who had the goods on these guys had some baggage, but to have let this particular individual go was as pitiful an example of "law enforcement" as I have ever read about.
FBI Arab translators cheered Sept. 11 at FBI !!!!

Let's not forget Mooselimbs come in all colors (think Chechnyans, Albanians, Indonesians). My mother told me yesterday that for the past two Sunday mornings, as she drove into downtown Pittsburgh for church, she's seen "Asian-looking" men taking photos of the Smithfield Street bridge and nearby buildings. I suggested she call the FBI with her observations.
I have a neighbor who is a Sikh (The Good Ones!). He worked for the FBI as a consultant and translator. He told me that he was basically forced to quit the FBI because they were more concerned about his not wearing starched shirts than the information he provided. He told me that the FBI is not in touch with that which will really win the war on terror.
No surprise here. Almost any low-level employee in the New York area would be a prime candidates for a mole -- and they don't have to be Muslim, either. The lower ranks of these companies are filled with minorities and recent immigrants from all over the place, and I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to get information from them with a modest amount of cash.
We need to bug every mosque. And as for the first amendment, Islam is not a religion, it is organized crime.
