"U.S. manufacturing expanded for the 14th consecutive month in July, boosted by new orders and higher production, the Institute for Supply Management said Monday. The institute said its manufacturing index registered 62.0 last month, up from 61.1 in June." "There are now 73.4 million homeowners in the United States, more than at any time in history. According to Census Bureau second quarter data released today, the new record homeownership rate is 69.2 percent, breaking the previous record of 68.6 percent. This new record is 783,000 more than in the first quarter of 2004 and almost 1.7 million more than in the second quarter of 2003. Minority homeownership also set a new record with an increase of 0.2 percent in the second quarter. The rate of 51.0 percent means there are now 14.9 million minority homeowners in the United States."
