Declaring that "America needs continuity in such tough and challenging times," St. Paul Minnesota Mayor Randy Kelly has joined the swelling ranks of elected Democrat officials and is backing Republican President George W. Bush for re-election.
"The President and I do not agree on a lot of issues, but in turbulent times what the American people need more than anything is continuity of government even with some imperfect policies," said Mayor Kelly.
Kelly follows the lead of former two term governor from the state of Georgia, United States Senator Zell Miller.
Miller appeared on "Meet The Press" on Sunday declaring that "the democratic party had gone so far too the left that democrats can't even win statewide offices in the south anymore."
"The reason being," the senator said, "because they are so closely aligned with the national democratic leadership."
Miller went on to assert that most Georgian democrats support his views that President Bush is taking and will take the war on terror seriously.
"Americans would rather be fighting the terrorists there, than on the streets of America," Miller stated.
Fellow United States Senator, Minnesota's Norm Coleman said the actions of Miller and more importantly Mayor Kelly demonstrated "bi-partisanship at its finest."
When you couple the fact that actual elected, sitting, democrats are the ones making these statements - and getting good press time doing it (KARE 11 TV), with the new results of the USAToday/CNN/Gallup polls that show Bush gaining close to a five point bump following Kerry's speech. (And if you stay within the Gallup poll since the beginning of July - Bush has bumped 10 points.)

Miller would likely switch parties if he were in an election. He only stayed because he's getting out of the Rat race.
I mean what is this DORK thinking?
Yes, reality is starting to set in. Kerry's fantasyland of being president, despite TerAYsa's having bought him a big, big plane almost as big as Air Force One, and having painted the nose blue and printed John F. Kerry for president...on the side, is collapsing with a blat like the sound of a giant whoopie cushion. Kerry 'doesn't pay attention to polls'. Uh huh. He's in freefall with no net. He'll end up in China. There's no way voters will vote for a fool who says he'll tell you what he plans to do as president once he gets there. This is ludicrous. Who's on his staff? Sandy Bergler just resigned, well, Kerry had better get him back fast.
What NPR didn't mean is that even before the convention everyone had made up their mind that they despised Botoxboy...which is the truth...they did.
Oooh, do we mean replace Kerry with Hill because he's so obviously not up to the job? Well, he could step aside, saying he'd decided to spend more time with TerAYsa, before he commits her to the loony bin and takes all that lovely money for himself. Edwards the hamster isn't ready for prime time, so Hill would have to (reluctantly), take the top spot. This, however, won't work because Americans aren't about to change leaders in the midst of war. Esp. not for one who wants to take stuff (money and tax breaks), away from voters for the 'common good'. She is scarey.
Ah, the queen of mean.
Even though Kerry and Edwards tried hard at the convention to look mainstream, I really believe the more moderate and conservative democrats were frightened by the speakers. I am really starting believe Bush may have some Bush democrats that will quietly vote for him rather than the alternative.
Good news!
Thanks for the ping!
I think it's guaranteed by federal law though.
That's a good post, devolve!!
Sean was interviewing Denny and hitlery's horrendous and truly nazi like health care plan came up.
Sean asked Denny how many times he got to meet with her regarding the formation of it and Denny said not much...that they were left out, that Ira Magaziner, major hillary butt kisser, met with them one a week regarding the plans hillary and her team of 500 or so were working on.
But Denny did mention that one of the two times he got to meet with her to discuss health care options, he spoke of the plan he was inclined towards-the medical savings plan for each citizen.
Hillary told him it would NEVER FLY because (and there were two reasons she stated, but I was so furious at the first, I missed her second nazi comment), get this,
"You could NEVER TRUST the people with such a medical savings plan, THEY would control the funds then, and many would not make sure their children got innoculated or cared for....the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT could do a MUCH BETTER JOB of running each persons health care needs.'
I ABOUT SCREAMED!
This woman is a nazi alright. EVERYTHING FOR THE STATE AND OH DON'T YOU KNOW THE MONEY THAT WOULD FLOW INTO THE STATE FROM HEALTH CARE TAXES!!!! Oh the POWER , the POWER!
And can't ya just imagine hitlery leaving HER HEALTH CARE NEEDS to be directed by the federal government? FAT CHANCE!
Which is the root of their problem. Pure Bush hatred has gotten them this far and the MSM has played along. But now it's time to put up or shut up and they've got nothing to offer.
NJ style replacement? rodham/cliton (P/VP) ticket?
