I question the timing of this poll?
No not really, but Daschle is deeply saddened.

The Newsweek polled "adults of voting age" whereas Gallup polled registered and likely voters. This could get even better next week as the conventional wisdom is that Republicans are often not available for weekend polls.

How did they round 2.84% up to 4%? Social justice math?

Thanks for clearing it up; however, there do seem to be a lot of poll numbers all over the place for this guy. Perhaps the pollsters have not yet gotten there poll numbers from the DNC so that they will all be on the same page.
My POV is the same as Mark Steyn --- the more you see (and hear) from Kerry, the less people like him.

I disagree, I think the undecideds and fringe voters are on a wait and see aspect with Bush, the fringe voters are saying right now they will vote for Kerry but they havent necessarily ruled out a Bush or even a Nader vote, the dims are the ones with the most to lose. Its quite possible the dam could break in Bush favor come september.

What's a lawn dart? And what's a "Lawn Dart" bounce?A lawn dart is a large dart that one threw at a ring on the grass (hence the name, "lawn dart"). The safety nazis outlawed them because, if you were a real moron, you could kill yourself or someone else with the thing. The overall flight trajectory was sharply downward.
A "Lawn Dart bounce" is when the candidate comes out of the convention lower than when he started.

I think the opposite of a "bounce" would be a "thud." Or possibly a "freefall". :-)The opposite of a bounce is a plop...........
and that also best describes Kerry!

Why is that so? Just wondering, I'm a curious girl.Republicans are more likely to be away from home during weekends, because--unlike a substantial number of Democrats--they work during the week and aer seeking to relax.

The Newsweek polled "adults of voting age"
You may want to actually look at what Newsweek said and not what was reported by the press and others..... All their releases have 'registered voters' as the basis of their numbers...

I'm showing my youth here.... What's a lawn dart? Lawn darts were a harmless little game that was around in the 70's. Kind of like Bocce Ball, only played with foot-long plastic darts tipped with a 4-inch steel spike. It was a heck of a lot of fun. I have no idea why the CPSC banned it...
A "Lawn Dart" bounce falls out of the sky and sticks...

Some polls show no bounce. Of course their explanation is "there are so few undecideds that this is the best it COULD be".I wonder what they'll say if GW Bush comes out of the Republican convention with a + 8 to 10 point bounce.
