"Presidential Race Remains Close; No Convention Bounce Bush slightly ahead among likely voters, Kerry among registered voters
GALLUP NEWS SERVICE
PRINCETON, NJ -- A new CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey, conducted on Friday and Saturday following the Democratic Convention in Boston, finds that the presidential race remains close, with President George W. Bush receiving 50% support among likely voters, and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry 47%. Among the larger group of registered voters, Kerry leads 50% to 47%.
Compared with the last CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey conducted before the convention (July 19-21), this post-convention poll shows that among likely voters, Kerry's support is actually two points lower than it was pre-convention, while Bush's support is three points higher. Among registered voters, Kerry's support in the current poll is one point higher than it was pre-convention, while Bush's support is also higher, by two points (the percentage of undecideds dropped in both groups).
For neither group of voters does the slight change in voter preferences, compared with a poll conducted shortly before the convention, favor Kerry. All of these changes are within the margin of error, meaning that we cannot be 95% certain that Bush gained on Kerry after the convention. However, clearly there is no convention bounce for Kerry."

I watched Chris Wallace on FNC today, and all they talked about was the Newsweek poll. Which by the way showed a ten-point Kerry lead since the convention, acc to Fox. Never said a word about the CNN poll.
The more Kerry and his medicated wife speaks, the lower their numbers will go.
It's good for me.
Now we know why we didn't get any of the usual polls out the morning after Kerry spoke -- bet they repolled because they couldn't believe the results!
This is hilarious!
I think the problem with Terroriza is that she's NOT on medication : ) Buh-bye, Lurch. You're going to get sent back to Boston with your ass handed to you on a silver platter.
Told you so. I have no clue how it is going to happen, but Hillary will Run in 04. I know, I know. Old already.
This is hilarious!
Likely voters is a more specialized group since only 53% of registered voters actually vote. So what this is saying is that if every registered voter voted, Kerry would win, but among the like (serious) voters Bush wins. This makes since and is consistent, inasmuch as Republicans do better among those who actually vote vs. those who have a Drivers license.
New York Times polls journalists
Do those so-called liberal journalists really want John Kerry to defeat President Bush?It depends where they work and how you ask, according to an unscientific survey the New York Times conducted during a press party at the Democratic convention.
When 153 journalists were asked anonymously who would be a better president, those from outside the Beltway picked Kerry 3-1, and the ones from Washington favored him 12-1. -- NEW YORK TIMES
I myself cannot WAIT to gloat. I actually have two family members who are going to wake up one day with Bush signs in their yards. Going to have to do it different days so I can get pics of their faces when they come out their front doors and see them.
Everytime my grandma (she's 92) saw Clinton's face on TV this week she said, "He makes my hind-end hurt."
Translation: He's a pain in the a$$.
to which
Wallace said sarcastically; "I'm glad your not watching the polls." See a transcript for exact comments, but these 2 clowns spew crap constantly.
They are boring to listen to and she is kind of out of her mind, so the more they talk, the wider the spread will be for Bush.
Take Rasmussen for a favorable Kerry example, though, and we see that his 4 pt bounce is equivalent to his 4pt Edwards bounce that promptly disappeared within a week.
Great points, WOSG. However, a popular vote win for W, with an electoral landslide would silence the Bush was "Selected" choir...and that's the source of much of this animosity
I think so, too. It's a bit suspicious from Ras that Kerry's 'bounce' didn't occur until Saturday's numbers were taken, when Kerry usually does his best. Friday's numbers were obviously not good for Kerry and that's exactly when his bounce should've started appearing. It didn't, he dropped from 3 straight days of 48-45 to 47-46.
Yes, he would. How would anyone know the poll was 'false' since the election is months away? Its good cover. And when Zogby says Kerry is leading in the South, you know that something serious is wrong with the poll. Either that, or Zogby considers CA and NY to be Southern states.
Hillary is LOVING this! She's got '08 locked up now if she can have Kerry go down the dumps.
