John Kerry's heavily hyped cross-country bus tour stumbled out of the blocks yesterday, as a group of Marines publicly dissed the Vietnam War hero in the middle of a crowded restaurant.
Kerry was treating running mate Sen. John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, to a Wendy's lunch in Newburgh, N.Y., for their 27th wedding anniversary an Edwards family tradition when the candidate approached four Marines and asked them questions.
The Marines two in uniform and two off-duty were polite but curt while chatting with Kerry, answering most of his questions with a "yes, sir" or "no, sir."
But they turned downright nasty after the Massachusetts senator thanked them "for their service" and left.
"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here shaking our hands," one Marine said, adding, "I'm 100 percent against [him]."

I think he does it regularly.
The two marines certainly don't look happy.
Good.
PING..............
Those nails!!!! I've never seen that before!!!! What's that about????
Ratings. They must realize that GWB has the momentum now (at least I think so) and want to keep it a close contest so as to increase the drama factor. Dummies.
My own brother, a former Navyman, is a total idiot. He's one of that group who's mad at GWB, and will vote other than Bush...unless he gets some last minute sense. I tried to explain things to him, but he actually threw some lib talking points at me!
I told him, "Bottom line, if you want to turn over our sovereignty to the UN, then, by all means, vote for Kerry." He didn't get it from our parents - I suspect his wife.
I better stop here, before I punch out my monitor or something...but I think I finally acquired a sense of the brother against brother phenomenon of the Civil War era.
My father is the retired Marine of the family - retired in the sense of this mortal coil. And it's his blood that's running through my veins as I just want to punch the hell out of my brother, and punch the hell out of F'n, who DARES to point that f'n finger into the chest of a US Marine!
F'n is oblivious to the fact that the Marine could have torn him apart with his bare hands. Boy, is he lucky these guys let him live.
That's Metrosexual. No kidding.
He plays guitar. The long fingernails on the right hand let him play without a guitar pick. They're very convenient.
Nevertheless, when you add everything else up about Kerry, he's still a metrosexual.
Maybe today's terrorist alert will push the undecideds towards the Bush lever. Your 4 friends are Dems with sense.
Watch for the Clintons' move. That ought to be a BIG help. And also the book, Unfit for Command, is coming out:
Sounds like it's going to be a blockbuster. I just heard an excerpt read by Drudge. Wow! Damning stuff!
He couldn't get a government Arts grant for guitar picks. I know. LOL!
Semper Fi from a proud USMC daughter.
I'm gonna side with Kerry on this one.
I've tried playing guitar with a pick, and to be honest, it's just no fun. It's about as bad as when us guys have to use a --- err --- I better not complete that thought. :-)
Let's just say, you really can't get a good feel for playing the guitar any other way except when you have those long fingernails.
Not being a guitar player, I'll grant you that. :o)
But the only thing I can imagine is fingernails bending backwards on steel strings. Ouch!
No bent fingernails here. At least, not yet. I keep them moderately long, just like Kerry's in that picture earlier in this thread. But that's about all I have in common with Kerry.
One look at your amusing tag line tells me that's true! :o)
Well they couldn`t believe that Kerry was chosen out of all those other candidates (actually they were quite po-ed), over Clarke and especially Lieberman who seemed to be the most level headed out of all of them. They know quite well the history about Kerry and they couldn`t even believe he was being taken seriously at first as a candidate. I think a lot of Democrats feel that way which is why the convention was such a wash out. I mean who would have ever thought that we would hear Dan Rather call the convention "boring", or Maureen Dowd calling it "Gilligans Island!" Pretty good news for Bush when you hear that from a democrat. It just comes down to the democrats having second thoughts about this phony SOB. I think it also says alot about the polls, that they are not being honest. I live in NYC and from what I`m hearing in the street, you get those few who say "Anybody but Bush" then you get the other Democrats saying "Why did it have to be Kerry?" and I think it`s just going to get worse for him as he`s exposed more and more for the phony SOB that he is.
Hmmm...guitar, huh? I think he should go back to the pick. Of course, there's also a certain kind of illegal substance that requires a long fingernail...
Bunny Foo Foo Kerry has such long claws! I wonder how long the Dutchess of Heinz's are ,,,
Thanks to F'n, in no small measure, there are people who actually believe that this latest terrorist threat is just a political ploy. Kerry and his bunch might get us killed even before he could win the Presidency. He is acting very recklessly and irresponsibly, concerning the new alert. He would climb to the White House on the backs of the dead if he could!
Clarke is a whacko in his own right, but I see the point about Liberman. He would have been a good candidate for the thinking Dem. You have fortitude in that you can deal with libs - well, it looks like you're developing some common ground there. Hell, even Mayor Koch has endorsed GWB, and he came out early for him, too.
I think a lot of Democrats feel that way which is why the convention was such a wash out.
I agree, and I've heard (maybe Rush?) that many are resigned to looking forward to '08. And I think Dan (I'd) Rather (Not See Him - TM) is boring. When he cries about something or other, that's worse torture than someone putting panties on somebody's head. LOL!
...and I think it`s just going to get worse for him as he`s exposed more and more for the phony SOB that he is.
Which is good for Bush, and this particular election, but bad for the Republican party in the long run. Too many "moderate" Dems are joining the GOP, and there's too many people gaining superiority under that "big tent." Two of the featured speakers in the GOP convention are Giuliani, and Schwartzenegger - both are pro abortion, and Rudy is pro partial birth abortion. I'm sure you're aware of all the talk about Rudy for Senator or Governor. We're losing the ability to vote for candidates who share the social agenda and values of the mainstream GOP constituency.
What they did to McClintok in California, to nullify his candidacy in favor of Ahnold, was a sin against the conservative voters. I followed that election very closely, and all I heard was "He'll never win." The "moderates" did all they could to fullfill the prophesy they placed on McClintok's head.
The general trend is that the more the GOP wins, the more conservatives lose. Voter beware!
