BLOOMINGTON -- Filmmaker Michael Moore's Bush-basing documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" apparently has upset more than Republicans.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph newspaper in central Illinois has sent a letter to Moore and his production company, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., asking Moore to apologize for using what the newspaper says was a doctored front page in the film, the paper reported Friday. It also is seeking compensatory damages of $1.
A scene early in the movie that shows newspaper headlines related to the legally contested presidential election of 2000 included a shot of The Pantagraph's Dec. 19, 2001, front page, with the prominent headline: "Latest Florida recount shows Gore won election."
The paper says that headline never appeared on that day. It appeared in a Dec. 5, 2001, edition, but the headline was not used on the front page. Instead, it was found in much smaller type above a letter to the editor, which the paper says reflects "only the opinions of the letter writer."
"If (Moore) wants to 'edit' The Pantagraph, he should apply for a copy-editing job," the paper said. Lions Gate Entertainment did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment Friday.

He's that kid in school who dropped his pants and mooned out the back window of the school bus just for the notoriety it would bring. He's all grown up now, but nowhere near maturity.

Has anybody been keeping a list of all the lies in this movie?

Pantagraph Bump! (From a proud subscriber.) I've never been much of a Bill Flick fan, but he can now add me to his fan list. I love it when the facts prove that Michael Moore is nothing but a big LIAR!

Moore said he was coming to Florida on election day, starting in Jacksonville, where I live. I will vote early and stay up all night so I can find that bastard and spit right in his face, then dare the pussy to do domething about it! (You do know Florida has conceal carry permits and many good folks pack heat just in case an asshole comes around!)

A suit for small damages works better in this instance in my opinion.
The newspaper carried the headline (albeit inside). Therefore, Moore's use of it on the front page for his film, would probably be condoned by the judiciary - if the paper was suing for major financial damages.
However, if the Judge sees that they are suing for small money, but on principle - the judge is more likely to swing in their favour, thus claiming the moral victory over Moore.

Moore faked a newspaper headline in his movie! They are suing.

Most people ignore his ilk.
Only the obviously dying major liberal news networks give him airtime.
Other questions?

Check out post #36. The lawyer says you must have standing.
Meaning, you must show where you were personally damaged.
However, I believe, the GOP, or a group of GOP Texans
could possibly sue in class action for defamation.

I hope more people sue his a$$ for all the fraud he has committed. There are laws against that....right??!!! When Edwards loses his race for Veep maybe he can represent MM in all the lawsuits.... ;)
Maybe a class action for damages by all those who bought tickets to F/911, under the fraudulently perpetrated impression it was a "documentary"...

It doesn't sound much different than changing a photo and presenting it as the real thing. It's lying, cheating, misrepresenting!! The old standards don't seem to matter anymore!

I wonder if the ugly Dems would still be hollering about
Florida if their Internet inventor won by a few votes.
They play the count and recount game to have elections
overturned in their favor. Didn't quite work for them in
Florida.
It was the liberal Florida Supreme Court that had the case
go up to the U.S. SCT, not Bush.

I detect from the tone of your comment that you won't be asking Mr. Moore for his autograph?

My son and some of his friends went to see Moore's movie. I have been in numerous arguments with them over it. I can't convince them that it is all a bunch of half truths and b/s.
I have even showed them links on the exposure of his lies.
Any suggestions on getting them to understand?

Bill O'Reilly doing an interview? That's some sort of oxymoron.
If Bill O'Reilly prepared, he'd know how to hand his guests enough rope.
To: daddyOwe
Five years ago I would have said the same about one of my sons. Now he is 25 and works hard as a bartender. He reads the Washington Times everyday and laughed at a bootleg copy of f911 (he wouldn't pay to see it). It's been fun to watch his transformation.
Gently persuade, your son will come around.

I hope they win. All $1 of it. Serves him right. hehe!
