Guilty Plea Results in Deportation (no jail time for 'illegal' child molesters ??)
The Daily Herald ^ | 7/27/04 | Tony Gordon

A pair of illegal immigrants agreed not to contest their deportation, and by doing so avoided five-year prison sentences for molesting a Mundelein girl.

Cousins Antonio Reyes-Angeles, 25, and Isidro Reyes-Lorenzo, 20, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse during a Monday hearing before Circuit Judge Victoria Rossetti.

The two were sentenced to five years in prison, but Rossetti agreed to put the prison time on hold in exchange for their agreement to cooperate with the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's efforts to deport them.

"They cannot assert their right to remain in the United States in any way," Assistant State's Attorney Marykay Foy said. "They either voluntarily return to Mexico, or are taken to prison."

The two admitted molesting a 10-year-old girl several times between January and April of this year in Mundelein.

Mundelein police arrested the men after the girl reported the attacks to a Hawthorn Middle School counselor who called police.

Foy said if either man is ever arrested in the United States, the five-year sentence will be imposed without provisions of time off for good behavior.

In addition, Foy said, federal law provides for a sentence of at least five years for any person deported as a result of a criminal act who re-enters this country.

"They cannot assert their right to remain in the United States in any way,"

Where is it written that they had that right to begin with?

With us taxpayers now *flying* illegals back to mexico, these scumbags will be back in a couple days. Complete with a new identity on their 'matricula card'.

I suspect the intent of the judge in this statement is to tell the weasely immigration lawyer to not even think about crying about the 'rights' of these poor immigrants...that dog ain't a'gonna hunt in her courtroom.

I suspect the intent of the judge...

What do you think this judge's intentions are in allowing *admitted* child molesters go free ???

'Voluntary Deportation' is no punishment (or deterant). BP does this thousands of times everyday, & many just keep trying until they get thru.

IMHO, they should have done the 5 years and then been deported.

That I can't answer. Any more than I can answer why a girl in our town just got 6 months probation for 2nd Degree Vehicular Manslaughter.

There's way too much consideration of criminals' feelings - or something - going on in our courts today.

"...in exchange for their agreement to cooperate with the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's efforts to deport them."

Why should the DICE have to be concerned about agreement from the invaders? Because they have to contend with the Justice Department's Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). This is the "revolving door" that lets aliens appeal their cases without limit until they've won. The appointed judges come from the ranks of (surprise!) immigration lawyers. The EOIR needs to be disbanded or their mission further defined to reflect the fact that illegal aliens are not immigrants and do not come under their jurisdiction.

Personally, I believe these men should be placed in a prison population of violent felons that includes lots of fathers.

By the way, when someone else posted this article earlier today it was pulled without any explanation whatsoever. I thought we merited a "previously posted" message at the very least.

Yep --- there is nothing at all stopping them from coming back within a couple of days. They could rape a couple more children while they're back home, come right back over and go to another location in the USA where they wouldn't likely be recognized and start all over. This is absurd.

Rape of a child should get them the death penalty or physical castration -- and then deported.

My same thoughts......as it is the only way these scumbags do any jail time now, is *if* they re-enter, & *if* they get caught & fingerprinted.

Sheesh.....with millions of illegals here 'living free', won't be to hard for these two *buy* new ID, & just blend in.

Yep, even our criminals don't think much of child molesters.

Still seems to me this judge's first priority should of been to sentence these two for child molesting........& let deportation take place, *if* & when they got out.
