SEATTLE,July 28-- Federal immigration authorities have detained a Saudi citizen who works as a computer security specialist here at the University of Washington's School of Nursing.
In connection with the arrest, federal agents seized several computers and examined Internet servers at the nursing school, said an employee at the school, who asked mot to be identified.
Majid Almassari, 34, who was born in Saudi Arabia, was detained in Seattle on July 17 on charges that he is in the country illegally, according to Lori Haley, a spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
'snip'
Federal authorities told the university that Almassari's detention is "related to a visa violation for drug issues that he has had," Arkans said.

I suppose that there is nothing to do about it but the Feds create all these blackholes but no information can escape. I fear we'll never know what the story on Mr. Almassari turns out to be.

Good Deal
We must have at least one Freeper at UW who can tell us the outcome.
Time to turn in the illegal immigrants in our midst.

Ironic. A university gives a computer security specialist job to someone who isn't here legally. Well --- he was probably much cheaper than an American.
Just doing a job that an American won't do!!

Didn't I hear that the police of Seattle CANNOT ask a driver they pull over (for whatever reason) their immigration status?

Well, no updates as of today.
Majid is a great guy. Easy to get along with, and a bang up Security guy. He knows how to protect systems better than anyone I met while at the UW. I hope that the gov't understands what a good employee he is. It will be very difficult for the Dept. of Nursing to replace him, if that's what it comes down to. From the news article at Seattle Times, it said that he was being arrested for drugs? That sounds weird. Usually someone making a decent salary like his wouldn't have to deal with that kind of stuff. I never saw any evidence of that when discussing tech issues with him. Anybody know how to track him or find out more. I don't want to see him get sent to Guantanamo Bay or worse.
Ping...........
So you know him personally? How did you find this site?

Sorry to wake you, O King. Possible infiltration on this thread, maybe nothing.
Go back to sleep... or better yet, to the undead thread. It's about to hit 11,000!
