Boston (CNSNews.com) - A day after Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry's campaign accused NASA of releasing an embarrassing "bunny suit" photo, Republicans seized on the opportunity to comment on the story - and photo - in the wake of Tuesday's allegation.
"It appears as if the Kerry campaign is attacking NASA," said Sen. Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican. "It was Kerry's decision to go visit there. They obviously posed for the photograph, and now they're attacking NASA because the photograph is released. That pretty well sums up the nature of the Kerry campaign."
Photos of Kerry in the blue "bunny suit" during a tour of NASA made their way onto tabloids and created a stir on talk radio. They also appear on the walls at Republican headquarters in Boston.
Kerry's campaign manager, Mary Beth Cahill, wasn't laughing at the release of the image. She emphatically told Fox News the photo was purposely leaked. NASA has denied the campaign's accusation.
According to The Washington Times, the photo is drawing comparisons to 1988 Democrat presidential candidate Michael Dukakis' famous "tank" photograph. That image is considered one of the worst mistakes of Dukakis' campaign.

Kind of a misleading headline. Cahill's initial response is practically what -put- it in the news in the first place. I was hoping from the title that they'd managed to say something even more magnificently stupid.
Qwinn
To repeat the words of Senator Byrd when he was critizing GWB for landing on the aircraft carrier, the Kerry photo-op was "flamboyant flamboyant flamboyant flamboyant flamboyant..."
Cahill and her denial are even worse than the photos----because the Kerry team first approved the photos, before they disapproved the photos.
That is just another blatant example of Kerry: the sum total of John Kerry is 'flipflop'.
Let's keep it alive. Keep it alive. Keep it alive. It's so early in the campaign, many still have not seen the picture. Let's not let this die out.
And it all would have gone away. It's no fun making sport of someone when they're laughing right along with you. It's how Dubya defused the criticism that he's inarticulate -- self-deprecatory humor.
Of course, that would require that Kerry be both self-deprecatory and have a sense of humor.
At least one of my local, small town Upstate NY rags never printed the pic. Gee, wasn't that nice of them?
I think we need a Congressional investigation! Call your congressman!
I love Anya. Shes the cutest capitalist ex-vengance demon ever!
And Emma Caufield is gorgeous...and really really conservative to boot!
