Kerry Campaign Keeps 'Bunny Suit' Photo in News

Boston (CNSNews.com) - A day after Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry's campaign accused NASA of releasing an embarrassing "bunny suit" photo, Republicans seized on the opportunity to comment on the story - and photo - in the wake of Tuesday's allegation.

"It appears as if the Kerry campaign is attacking NASA," said Sen. Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican. "It was Kerry's decision to go visit there. They obviously posed for the photograph, and now they're attacking NASA because the photograph is released. That pretty well sums up the nature of the Kerry campaign."

Photos of Kerry in the blue "bunny suit" during a tour of NASA made their way onto tabloids and created a stir on talk radio. They also appear on the walls at Republican headquarters in Boston.

Kerry's campaign manager, Mary Beth Cahill, wasn't laughing at the release of the image. She emphatically told Fox News the photo was purposely leaked. NASA has denied the campaign's accusation.

According to The Washington Times, the photo is drawing comparisons to 1988 Democrat presidential candidate Michael Dukakis' famous "tank" photograph. That image is considered one of the worst mistakes of Dukakis' campaign.

They're afraid of a mere picture? If they can't stand humor, they're not equipped to take on the real challenges confronting this country. You know how people laughed at Anya on Buffy for being afraid of bunnies? Just wait til people laugh at the Kerry campaign's making much ado about their guy in a bunny suit.

Kind of a misleading headline. Cahill's initial response is practically what -put- it in the news in the first place. I was hoping from the title that they'd managed to say something even more magnificently stupid.

To repeat the words of Senator Byrd when he was critizing GWB for landing on the aircraft carrier, the Kerry photo-op was "flamboyant flamboyant flamboyant flamboyant flamboyant..."

Cahill and her denial are even worse than the photos----because the Kerry team first approved the photos, before they disapproved the photos.

That is just another blatant example of Kerry: the sum total of John Kerry is 'flipflop'.

Let's keep it alive. Keep it alive. Keep it alive. It's so early in the campaign, many still have not seen the picture. Let's not let this die out.

The Kerry campaign really blew this one. The way to defuse something like this is to roll with the punch. Kerry should have come out in front of the cameras immediately and let them ask him about it. He'd reply, "Yeah, I saw those pictures! Funniest thing I've seen in a long time -- it was a real stress reliever for the whole staff. Say, did you see the photoshop someone did with the bunny ears added on?"

And it all would have gone away. It's no fun making sport of someone when they're laughing right along with you. It's how Dubya defused the criticism that he's inarticulate -- self-deprecatory humor.

Of course, that would require that Kerry be both self-deprecatory and have a sense of humor.

At least one of my local, small town Upstate NY rags never printed the pic. Gee, wasn't that nice of them?

The Democrats love that photo and want the image imprinted on the publics mind. They know how to make a story go away, they wrote the book on it.

If it was Bin Laden in that costume how would it effect his image with the typical US citizen? John Kerry is a scary individual, the image was released to soften his image.

Pink ties are not worn because you want to impress the "gay vote".

Anya:
Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses
And what's with all the carrots
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway
Bunnies, bunnies
It must be bunnies
Or maybe midgets

All:
What can't we face?
If we're together?
What's in this place
That we can't weather?
We're together
There's nothing we can't face

Anya:
Except for bunnies...
