Kerry "Electra-fies" his bass
Posted on 07/28/2004 5:26:11 PM PDT by bleach
I know NYC GOP Girl posted the VH-1 link about John Kerrys' 60s Band the Electras back in March. I didn't see the link for the newly reissued CD. Check this out. http://www.theelectrasrockandrollband.com/
This is almost as good as the Bunny suit pictures.

As a bass player, he probably sucked.

The liner notes on the orginal album said this about Kerry:
"John Kerry, electric bass, is a resident of Oslo, Norway, and the producer of a pulsating rhythm that lends tremendous force to all the members."

He was fluent in the idioms of the day. Plus, face it, the band looked good.

He is one of the worst bass players I've ever heard. That a Fender he's playin? Made it sound like a ten-dollar Kay.

I happen to be a semi-pro bass player and bass instructor, and must say that I cannot believe HOW MUCH HE NEEDS LESSONS!!!
To: Lenmonster
He's 17 years old, for crying out loud. How good were you at 17?
On the other hand, if you want to diss him for being the baddest badass at his Swiss finishing school, go for it.

I don't want to hear his playing. The offerings of other bass players screw up my ear. I will listen to some melodic trumpets who know songs, some comping pianos, not Kenny G but Sonny Rollins, most percussion for 4 bars, any cello or trombone that knows how to develop extension tension. But not basses.

I'm a piano player. We live and die off of our bass players. I just wanted to see if he was any good, or if he was a phony back then, too.
