Earlier this morning, Don Imus, while speaking to Sen. Joe Lieberman, said that he believes it would now be better for Saddam to be back in power than the new Iraqi government because Saddam "is tanned, fit, and rested, kinda like Nixon back in '68."
This is truly disgusting and vile. While Joe Lieberman made a very good case for the war in Iraq, he did not react in any way to Imus's comments. Imus obviously believes that he prefers that Iraqis be tortured, raped, mutiliated, murderered, and dumped into mass graves. He seriously thinks that would be "cool."
While it is well known that Don Imus supports John F'ing Kerry, the comments this morning were truly the worst kind of venom anyone can spew.
I urge everyone who reads this to complain to Viacom and MSNBC. Furthermore, I urge everyone not just to quit watching, but remove MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS, and CNBC from your satellite or digital cable recievers. Most recievers allow users to edit the main channel menu.
These organizations HATE America, and they only way to get rid of them is not to watch.
Thanks.
So did we....Imus is another flip-flop Kerry as far as we're concerned..and the only reason Imus is supporting Kerry is because the Heinz Corporation donated thousands of dollars to "the ranch." End of story. Imus has a price.
I saw a picture on a thread yesterday on FR that had that exact quote, but for Jimmy Carter instead of Saddam. I wonder if Imus is a lurker, or somebody emailed it to him. He was obviously joking.
I stopped listening to ANUS several months ago because of his unfair attacks on Bush, etc. He does say a lot of things to get people going and I did not hear this. He is a jerk and I would be happy to have him off the air. He used to be good years ago
Some of you folks need to get a sense of humor.
"Imus is a moron, I stopped listening to the self centered idiot years ago."
Ditto. Bears repeating.
Imus can be irritating and frustrating, but he instigates responses from people you will not hear anywhere else. And he allows people like Mary Matalin to come on and set him straight and present the President's side in a way no one else is doing---which is a damn shame. I prefer him to O'Reilly sho completely lost me last night when he was KO'd by Jabba the Mooreon.
I am amazed at how many of you are so easily dismissive of the comments because they may have been a joke. Saddam is evil. He brutalized and murdered millions of people. It is OK to joke about that? It is OK to joke about a person that caused over 900 Americans to lose their lives to get rid of?
Still living at a home and sitting in front of a computer in your underwear does not qualify you to laugh at evil.
This is serious stuff. People are still dying because of Saddam and you think its OK to joke about that. You should be ashamed, but I know you are not.
bump
Best thing you can do with Imus is just turn him off.
Good satire is offensive to somebody. I get mad at Imus regularly, but often what he says is a device to provoke people to defend their positions or to point out the ridiculousness of their positions. And he often does it to demonstrate the idiocy of his own confilicted opinions. If you don't get it, don't watch it. It's OK.
Imus is an asshole, and he'd be the first to admit it.....this is just proving the obvious
Where have you been? Imus has been saying this same thing for months. Nothing to get into a big huff about. Basically, he's saying the Iraqi people don't deserve our help based on how they've responded via the "Resurgents". And he's not far from being right.
Imus is backing Kerry in this election but I still respect him. He's the best morning show by a wide margin (For political junkies, anyway). His anti-partisanship is a bit refreshing.
Geeez, grow up a little. Imus's self proclaimed MO is to try his best to get his interviewee to say something stupid or reactionary. Nearly every one of his interviews has a moment where he tries to provoke such a comment. Either you are not a regular Imus listener or you haven't been paying attention.
Do yourself a serious favor.
Don't EVER turn on South Park.
"Best thing you can do with Imus is just turn him off."
Does anyone listen to Grandma Imus anymore? I've never seen his ratings, but they can't be good.
The list of JERKS is way TOOOOOOO long on MSNBC, CNBC, CNN etc etc ............Stick to FOX 4 TV ,and radio otherwise....BTW-WELCOME
I suspect Imus was trying to be funny/cute/whatever; however, his attempt seems insipid and, judging by your reaction, somewhat misunderstood by those who don't listen to him regularly. I say "somewhat" because his vacuous ramblings tend to wander around like they're in search of ratings.
